2017 Superduty Blind Spot System Fault & Cross Traffic System Fault

Newbie here!

Very frustrated and was left stranded with 380 miles on my 2017 Superduty FX4 Powerstroke!

I took pictures but truck would not start after running an errand on Friday. Two faults appeared across the display: "Blind Spot System Fault" and "Cross Traffic System Fault". The next screen to display was "Full Accessory Power Active".

After disconnecting the battery for several minutes to hopefully reset everything, NOTHING.

Finally after pushing start button 15-20 times, truck started. Got home, turned truck off and faults repeated not allowing me to start truck. Again, pushed start button 15-20 times and truck started. Drove to street where roadside assistance could grab it. Had it towed to dealership and haven't heard anything since.

Any others with similar experience or am I the only unlucky one?

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but looking forward to hearing what the issue may be, keep us updated if the dealer finds something.

Will do...did some searching on this site as well as Google and can't find anything related to the 2017 Superduty. Did find some similar faults related to the Ford Fusion however. Pretty frustrating with 380 miles on it! Checked with the dealer today and they've been able to start truck at will with 0 faults (go figure). Anyway, I will keep everyone updated but please keep your ears open for similar problems and/or fixes.

You did remember to put your foot on the brake before trying to start it, right? Just curious, because if you push the button without your foot on the brake pedal, the "Full Accessory Power Active" note comes up on the screen.

For sure...pushed the brake so many different times trying to get the d@mn thing started that the brake pedal was stiff.

Seems to be a gremlin at this point

Mine is having minor issues related to the instrument Cluster cutting out and the instrument Cluster not recognizing the front camera but it's sporadic....

keep us posted what they say?

Personally based on your issues , mine and others I have read (like ghost tailgates) Ford needs to update the firmware.... it's not possible it's a hardware or wire issue IMO.

As far as the brake pedal comment, yes of course I applied the brake before attempting to start. Matter of fact, I applied it so much that it became very stiff on each fault occurrence.

Have your phone recording when you start the vehicle every time going forward as a safety.

Proof on a difficult to repeat problem is key. Hopefully it's easier to figure out then my SuperLemon

I got pictures of the 2 different fault screens and sent to the dealer so that they don't think I'm FOS. Once I tried actually recording the phenomenon, the truck of course started right up right before we hooked up to the wrecker. Point taken though...I try to document everything

Same issue.

My 2017 F250 is in the shop for the same problem. They can't seem to figure it out. I did video tape my truck with the faults and not being able to start. The dealership cannot duplicate the same faults. Do any of you guys have any answers to this problem that maybe your dealership has figured out?

Subbed for curiosity.

BLIS/CT isn't the reason it's not starting.

Keep us posted. My guess would be something in the security system. Seems to be common with keyless/push button start trucks.

does it matter that mine is not a keyless? I have to sometimes turn my key on and off 10 to 15 times prior to the coils lighting up in order for me to start my truck. And every time that the coils do not light up that is when I get the two faults the blind spot and the cross traffic faults.

Doesn't rule out the security system being the culprit at least.

Same issue. 2017 F350 Platinum with 1100 miles. Currently at the dealer to replace the instrument cluster. My rig still drives with the system faults. Faults are on the drivers side.

If your truck still drives, have them check the Drivers Door Module. Make sure everything's plugged in there. I had exact same symptoms when a connector was unplugged in the door
