I just finished installing some Rancho 9000xl's on the front this morning - took about 30 min total.

During the install, you have to pop off a sensor or some component (part no. HC34-3B476-AA on the tag) from the front left shock post. I did a part number search and came up with nothing.

Any idea what this part is?

Nice. Please let us know if pressing those bushings out/in is a bugger. I don't have a press, so would be attempting this with a couple pair of vice grips....unless I just bite the bullet on a cheap Harbor Freight Press.

Rob said he pressed his out in less than 5 minutes with a couple of sockets and his bench vise and a utility knife for the rubber. He also said the new ones went right in after he greased them up.

Well, I got skunked. The sleeves were in the box but no bushings. Ugh... I guess I'll call Poly and order a set today. I'm tired of waiting on the eBay seller. At least I got a good deal and they did send the sleeves. Oh, and I called FOX again and asked them about what Tricon was told. A different tech from my previous calls told me there was no difference in length for stock height trucks and while the valving may change for the official release, it's unlikely. The aluminum weight difference is less that the difference in a full tank of fuel vs. an empty one and he asked if I can feel a ride difference between those. Of course I couldn't. He said while they are always playing with valving, that because these shocks are designed to fit such a wide range of vehicles and handle such a wide range of loaded vs. unloaded weights, that a valving change for the aluminum weight difference would be imperceivable. Lastly, he told me it would be quite some time before the 2017 part number will be out. So unless you really want to wait for Q3 or Q4, just do the bushing and sleeve change. He said he's talked to over 1000 people on this and has gotten a ton of positive feedback about the previous gen performing flawlessly in the 17's.

Bummer on the bushings... Waiting sucks. Hope poly can get you some fast! 👍

Thanks for the update on the shock length, there's definitely some confusion it there with their distributors. I think the 2017s are almost 2in taller in the rear, which might be why some are thinking they'll need longer strokes. Either way, I agree with you at this point, I'd just put the 16s on and enjoy the buttery ride.

Thanks man! The 2017's are indeed 1.5" taller but the standard 2.0 Fox is for 0-2" of lift. So, as long as you're not lifting, the 2016 version is just right. Just ordered the bushings through Poly's Amazon store. Cheaper than direct for some reason. $17 bucks for the pair shipped. (Shipping was a killer. $3.75 each before shipping on Poly's website...) Not the end of the world after the deal on the shocks. I did send the eBay seller a request for a partial refund as they stated in their listing that the shocks fit a 2017 and came with all necessary hardware and bushings. Will see if they kick me back what I paid to ensure positive feedback...

Thanks for all the info here guys. I have Carli valved Fox resi shocks off my 2008 that I was trying to sell but may just keep now and throw on the 17. Didn't know how to get the bushing/sleeves so I will call up poly. Will probably be a couple weeks, but I will post results.

Not sure i would use fox....i have a a set that came on my raptor and they are noisy as hell and they have to be rebuilt at 30k for 900 bucks. i believe the 2.0 Fox shocks are the same way.....check out the Raptor forums on front end shock noise........a lot of the people are switching to the icons....they still need to be rebuilt but at a bit longer duration and are adjustable on their dampening and they are about the same cost......the people that are switching to the icons love the ride and icon list shocks for the 17....just a thought

I've had Fox, King, Icon and Saws on my various vehicles both race and on road. They all perform very similar, none of them were ever noisey, unless you consider that glorious bypass noise at speed anything other than heavenly.

You need to rebuild these (all of them) at about 50k with mostly onroad use, 30k if you're offroading a lot. $900 to rebuild is an absolute flogging. It should cost less than a third of that. Even less still if you do it yourself and it's silly easy to do. I think the raptor crowd just gets taken because there's so many complete newbies with money, they tend to be easy pickings for these off-road shops.

Fox has had the best customer service hands down. They were always ready to help, had parts and advice, really awesome, consistently.

King was the worst. They just thought their **** didn't stink, emails and calls go unanswered, have to hound them for the simplest of things. All of my race buddies have switched away from Kings because of this.

Icons in the middle. I think a lot of the off-road community still stay away from them because of the whole child pornography debacle with their owner. Personally I think their stuff is overrated and over priced.

Sway A Way, eh, the performance was really lacking for me.

In reality, if you aren't mashing off-road regularly any of these are going to have great dampening abilities on road and last you a long time. They will really shine if you get into them and start playing with the valving, but that's not for everyone. I'm a firm believer in the importance of quality suspension, any of the above shocks are light-years ahead of nitro or monotube junk like Ranchos or the stuff you get in standard lift kits... Like hilariously better. 🤘

Not sure that most people would love the sound of the bypass...you might considering your background.....not sure on your comment on 300 bucks to rebuild the shock.......i would love a number to the place that will do the raptor shocks (removal rebuild and install) for 300 im not a newbie or young have had the 2011 6.2 with a Rousch since new and i do have money!!!!! you can send the raptors shocks to Fox for way more than 900.....replacements shocks are about 2k a axle.....and most people would not have the tools, knowledge or time or Hydrolic fluid and nitrogen to rebuild the raptor shocks.....most people on the raptor forums are getting maybe 35k (mix of off road and street) before the seals let go, there are a few that get higher but not many.......im sure your race buddies probably just slap on a new pair for each race being sponsored and all....this wouldn't be real economical for the average person.....thanks for your input on shocks i am looking to replace the raptor shocks front and rear but i am doing my due diligence before i drop 5k on shocks!!! and yes i agree that they are light years ahead of all mono tubes.....i offered my opinion on months of research and actual experience with the Fox shocks.........not to be flogged mercifully

My Fox 2.0's only cost me $450. If they need rebuilt at 30k, I'll throw them away and buy new ones if the rebuild cost exceeds the initial purchase price. That said, you guys are debating real off road race shocks. What most of us here are doing is buying a better quality shock as an OE on road replacement. Apples to oranges really. Heck, Bilstein 5100 is a fan favorite here forever. That's usually about as far as folks go with replacing OE shocks for daily driving/towing and most are completely satisfied. I think 2.0's will be a step above that so if I was happy with my 5100's, I'll be more happy with my 2.0's. As close to flogging I'll ever get is I95 from DC to NY...

Hahaha, sorry, wasn't trying to call you out. The raptor shocks are probably not a good sample. They were mass produced and I don't know anyone with a raptor that actually kept them.

You can get Fox 2.5 factory Editions for $899 a set with custom valving and a free revalve included from Accutune. That's a lot better money spent than new seals for $900. I agree with you that a lot of people don't want to service their own shocks, but that was sort of my point. These high performance shocks are super easy to service, once you do it you'd laugh, but the fact that they come stock on a $60k truck means a lot of guys are ready and willing to just pay an absorbitant amount of money to service them, which drives up the price for everyone. Not a personal ding to you, more just a capitalism thing 😁👍
