If you served or not. Take a minute this weekend to remember the guys that didn't come home. We owe them that.

 

I'm glad you posted that Dave. For every Vet that paid the ultimate price and did not come home, there is an entire family that will never be the same. Also the ones that did come home permanently disabled, either physically or emotionally, that also will never be the same, and finally we cant forget the boys and girls still serving us all, every day. And I can not sign out without a sincere thank you to all of you vets right here on FTE that have paid there patriotic dues so all of us can live in a free world.

I agree we need to remember all those that gave their lives for this great country.


We need to remember these men and women that served and are currently serving, we own our thanks. I will continue to thank them when ever I see them and not just on Memorial Day!

I was a Battalion Commander during Iraqi Freedom when one of my Transportation companies was mobilized near Baghdad. They had 5 KIA and several Injured in rocket attacks and IEDs. As the BN CDR I attended each of their funerals. It was a time in my Military carrier I cherish and yet wish I could forget. It was an honor to thank the loved ones of the fallen but to this day the looks in the families eyes haunts me. While I didn't personally know any of the fallen, their names are etched in my mind forever.

 

I understand you BJ. I was a platoon leader/motor officer on the Korean DMZ and lost a classmate from military school who demonstrated the old adage that only the good die young. He was in a nearby infantry unit and we had met several times just before he was killed.

 

I feel like the previous comments say exactly what I would hope to say!

There's an old saying the Infantry guys use before a conflict: "See ya on the other side" it has a double meaning. I'll see you after the conflict OR we'll meet again in the afterlife.

 

Just got back from a service at the Springfield State Veterans cemetery it is only about 17 years old and filling up they have another in just outside of Ft Leonard Wood Mo.
The Patriot guard showed up also.

 

Patriot Guard are great supporters of our military and attend many services for our fallen service members.

 

Thanks to all who served but heart hurts for those family, friends, and "brothers and sisters" who lost someone. Today really makes me remember. Thanks for all of your comments and support for others.
