OEM LED Center Light Assembly Package

Since the other thread on this is older, I thought I'd start a new one on this. Some guys had ordered the LED light bar that comes standard on the DRW trucks to install on the SRW. The SRW trucks have a blank plate where the light strip would go. As pointed out in another thread, this blank is rather close to the tailgate and if there is any debris on it, the lower tailgate paint can be scratched. The light strip is smaller than the blank plate and will likely help in this regard. But, that's just a pleasant bonus. I just like the look. It's a direct replacement so you reuse the OE bolts that held the blank on to mount the lights. There is also a harness you need to wire it in. It's not a direct plug and play but very easy to tie in. Some have tied it into the license plate lights. I found it a touch easier to tap the running light circuit behind the bumper 7 way RV plug and then grounded nearby. Took about 10 minutes total and I'm very happy with the results. I got my light and harness from Trunk Monkey. They are the vendor that did the Weigh Safe deal for FTE. They have both items in a package deal for $79.99 including free shipping. When I bought mine from them, I just ordered the two separate parts but I asked them to make it easy and do both in a package. They asked for my install pics and made up a page on their website for the deal. Anyways, here's a link if anyone is interested.

Thanks for making it easy!

Trunkmonkey might not be charging shipping at 79.95 but it's in there (cause its not cheaper than Tasca, even with their shipping).

I bought it from Tasca $68.35 or $78.34 with shipping!

Depends on where you live as Tasca's shipping is based on location. But, even if it was a buck more, I'd order from TM over Tasca after they took care of so many FTE guys on the Weigh Safe deal.

Rodney,
Do you remember what the color of the wire you used to tie in to? Maybe a picture of that would be helpful?
Thanks!

If you look at the 7 way flip up cover, it's actually marked and will show the wire to be at the 5 o'clock position. That said, it's industry standard color of brown for the running lights. Hope that helps!

Oh, and push on the 7 way from the back and it will pop right out of the bumper for easier access...

No worries. Glad to help! This is an easy mod that is relatively inexpensive. The part I like is the OE component of it...

Any reason you didn't grab ground off the 7-way as well?

The wire was a thicker gauge and I didn't want to use one of my cheapo Scotchlok taps on it.

I did this mod as well, and I can tell you it was an easy mod, worth it since learning about the issues with the blank in place.

Thanks Dan. I'm an expert at spending. It matters not if it's mine, yours, or both...

Trunk Monkey doesn't even list Ford as a brand choice on their website!
