Power mirrors click but won't move
Hi, I have searched but not found this exact problem. I can move the mirror adjuster switch and I can see the mirror trying to move and can hear clicking, but it won't move. It's like when the mirror has gone all the way in one direction and can't move anymore. But it does it in any position. I have hand-moved them to different positions and no matter where they are, the switch can't make 'em move into a different position. This happens with both mirrors. In case it matters, they are the power towing mirror that have the turn signal integrated on them and also they are heated.

sounds like the plastic gear maybe has loosened on the shaft. You can read this thread and see if you maybe can re-glue the gear on the shaft.

[QUOTE=seville009;17135711]You talking about the entire mirror assembly (like folding it in against the car) or just the reflective portion?
Thanks for the replies.....I'm sorry..it was late when I posted. I didn't even say what the vehicle was - it's 2005 F350 SD Lariat. Those mirrors don't fold in - unless I get out and fold 'em!
Problems with the folding mirrors is the only thing I could find in my searches. I'm talking about the reflective part just sitting there clicking as if it has reached the limit of its motion. I did find some info about resetting it or resyncing to get them to move, but that didn't change anything either.

i'd try power washing them. It may be that gunk has built up. It's odd that both would go bad at the same time. I have a 2006 F350 that i spray them pretty good in the car wash to get any salt snd gunk out; won't hurt anything. If that doesn't work, it might be that the plastic gears are just too worn

I literally just bought the truck last week. My first truck ever, so I don't know how long they both have been that way. You're making a great point about the gunk cuz every crevice of this truck is filled with Kansas dust. I'll take it to the car wash and spray 'em out and see what happens. Worst case scenario is I'll have to buy a couple new ones.
