Hi there I'm new to the site I got an 89 F250 with a 460 I pretty much brought it back from the dead to make a long story short I got it to start I got it to run and now I'm trying to test drive it it'll go in first gear 2nd gear 3rd Gear with no issues but it won't go any further the RPMs get up all the way to roughly 4 grand and my speed limit is roughly 55 to 60 I did have a code for a neutral safety switch but I don't know if that affects how the transmission shifts so I need some expert advice I'm not a mechanic but I am mechanically inclined so if anybody could help please and thank you

 

What code do you get? I need the number, not a description.

 

I got codes 63 and 67 koeo

 

Code 63 indicates a problem with the throttle position sensor. That could cause your issue.
Code 67 often shows up because the AC was in the on position when the test was run. I have no idea why that happens, but it does. This is very unlikely to be the cause of your problem.

 

Okay so I just found out I have a C6 transmission which is a 3-speed apparently the transmission shifts fine I'm just used to trucks with more gears the neutral safety switch is broke and I am replacing it and my throttle positioning sensor was not working also so I replaced it now I have no more codes thanks for all the help I'm just glad to figure this project out thanks

 

I do have one more question would it help fuel mileage to get rid of all the smog/emissions components on the 460
