I just did this on my 78 Bronco. The first loaner tool they brought out would not work with my pump. They brought out a second one that worked for me. See pics...

Pulley is off

This is the collar of the tool that worked for me

the inside of the shaft is threaded for the tool to screw into so you can press the pulley back onto the shaft. there should be a button larger than the hole in the shaft for the puller to work.

That is the tool that removes the pulley. That shaft in my bottom pic has two parts. The part that threads into the pump pulley and that larger nut that I turn counter clockwise while holding the tip with another wrench. That collar grabs the pulley. There is another part for the pulley install that presses it on. Actually here is a video of the tool I used.....

the problem is the collet of the tool will not fit over the lip of the pulley.

I got ya now. When I rented the tool at Advanced Auto one set had a larger collar that wouldn't work for me. Maybe that would work better. So they do have two different sets of loaners.

Side question. My radiator is full of junk but still solid with Very few bent fins and the fins are solid.I called around to get it acid dipped but they don't do it anymore.Have you guys had any luck with radiator cleaner? It's just the orange gunk typical in a old radiator.

I had the same issue. My old radiator had so much rust. I flushed it out but couldn't get my self to put it back on. It still had rust inside even after the cleaning so I decided to get a new Champion radiator. With tax it ran about $250.

OLD - With rust inside

New Champion - No Rust
