No sense starting a debate. People can read the posts and decide for themselves if I took your comment out of context.

My experience is that I have never run expensive oil. Cheap stuff for me all the way for the last 40 years and I have never had any engine issues.

You also seem to have ignored this comment:

I also hear the argument that "good" oil will help your engine last longer. For those that keep your vehicle for 300k-400k miles, these oils might provide some benefit.

I've used WalMart super Tech on my 6.7's.. 185k miles combined between the two.. no issues with emissions or anything else.. run it all winter as well.. get's below freezing big time here as well.

Not trying to start a debate, was stating the fact that I said I hadn't had a good experience in the past, that is all. Also, I didn't ignore the comment. I was focused on addressing the part of your message stating that I was telling you lower priced oils suck - in fact earlier today I remembered the oil in my 7.3 currently I got for $2.38/Qt from my buddy's shop. Granted it is Citgard 600, the price I paid for it still puts it in the 'lower priced oil' spectrum.

That is great! With everything there is always a percentage of people that have had bad experiences. Was I that statistic when running the stuff on the farm? Quite possibly - somebody has to be it.

Either way, I'm stepping out of this discussion. No need to take this thread farther OT or keep going back and forth on it. To the OP and readers, sorry about the

If anybody runs the Traveller oil, shoot me a PM. As I said earlier, I'd be interested in seeing how it does in automotive diesels vs the tractors that it is marketed toward.

I run travellers and it has held up for me well. I understand posting anything about oil on these forums will probably get you attacked but I like it. Ford says it meets the specs and its cheap. I may be just lucky who knows but I will continue to use it until someone shows me actual proof this oil is a problem. Hard to beat 39.00 for 5 gallons.

Have you completed an oil analysis?

And I would like to see that also. I wonder if fords and API's stamp of approval are just for lubrication standards, or do they also include the degradation of oil during intervals and soot management. I've always ran rotella just because it's a good middle oil and easily gotten and every time I've done blackstone reports they say the oil is still in good shape for extended changes if I want.
