folding 8' bed cover with 5th wheel hitch?
Hello, I have a 2017 Lariat 250 crew cab with a factory 5th wheel hitch coming. I am curious will a folding tonneau cover work with a 5th wheel hitch? I am looking at 3 different ones , one from Advantage and 1 from Rev. there is also a new rolling hard version. Any comments of using one of these with the 5th wheel? does it clear the hitch when completely folded against cab window?
Thanks for any advise on cover with a 5th wheel hitch in bed..

I have an 8' bed and was worried that a folding bed cover wouldn't work with my 5th wheel unless it was against the back glass. I decided to go with a Bakflip Revolver X2 cover. It rolls up easier than the folding kind and doesn't block my rear window or the bed camera. Sorry no one replied to you sooner.

I would recommend a tri fold that is easy to completely remove when using the fifth wheel. The revolver x2 is a very nice cover and won't block the entire back window when rolled up. But it's got some weight to it so it's not easy to remove and install on a whim. Lund and trifecta make nice trifolds that are easily removed.

I have used both the backflip f1 and Revolver x2, both are great covers and work well with fifth wheels. My personal preference is the Revolver due to the ease of opening and shutting. Takes about 20-30 minutes to install either of them.
Last cover I installed I did when I picked up my truck, salesman was blown away at how fast it was done and how good it looked. His service department was going to charge $200 to install.
Mount rails, secure rails with clamps, position cover, hand tighten bolts for cab end of cover, roll cover out and check alignment positioning, tighten bolts....done.

Does the cover leak very much? If so, where and how bad. Nice truck BTW.

Why would I (or anyone using a 5th wheel) need to remove the cover? I roll mine up, hook to 5th wheel and when I get to destination roll it back down. The foldable kind probably should be removed unless you are willing to fold it up against the glass (now that I think about it with the 5th wheel back there, there really isn't much to see....only the bed camera would be blocked I think???). I've had Bakflip F1s on my last 3 trucks but the 5th wheel and camera system made me rethink which one to get. Also tonnauefactoryoutlet.com was really pushing the revolver. Said it was the best cover. I do like it. That last fold on an 8ft bed was tough and I am reaching over a dually fender.

We've been having lots of rain down here and no cover is going to be completely waterproof. Got a little by the tailgate and in the front but not bad...haven't needed to put the drain tubes yet. My last truck had the BakFlip VP that was the same way and never did use the tubes. I went with the heavier 400 lb rated cover because my two youngest grandson's climb like monkeys and like to get on the cover...until I run them off!! Thank's for the compliment on the truck...well satisfied with it so far!!

Thanks...the White Gold is easy to keep up and close to the Arizona Beige I had on my '04 Lariat F-150. With the 4.10's it pulls hard and I'm getting 17.2 mpg on my current fuel up when not towing. Can't complain about that! When towing at 62-65 mph max I'm getting 10.4 mpg on a 14K pound toyhauler so thats not bad either...well satisfied with the truck so far.

Is the mpg numbers hand calculated or computer? I really wanted the 3.55 ratio for better mileage. I'm towing a 16k 5th wheel and if this truck can tow 27k with a 3.55 and 31k with 4.10, I didn't see the point to the 4.10. I did come to realize that the 3.55 may very well need to tow my rig in 5th gear where as I have no problem leaving it in 6th so I may actually be getting better mileage with the 4.10 when towing heavy and in the city so the 1-2mpg I lost in empty highway mpgs probably doesn't matter much. I also triple tow in the summer (Jet Skis) so I'm towing 19k.
