Fandini, as an old radiator man, before you put in the new rad, 1 cap of liqiud cascade in the rad, run it till it reaches operating temp. Drain it, do it again, and drain again. Fill with water, heat her up and drain. 1 more time with the cascade, drain, fill with water, should be clear, if not, repeat. Also make sure the heater is on so you flush the htr. core too.
Remember I said old, forgot to add the liquid dishwasher soap is non-sudsing and has bleach to cut the oil residue. Be patient, you got a lot of matrial in there covered with oil. Good luck and sorry about your mess.
Thanks GreySD. I guess I'll need to put the defective radiator back in and isolate the transcooler lines by running a bypass hose between the 2 trans cooler connections.
Hey Mark. Your obviously a respected man of great knowledge. I was wondering if you thought it might be better to purchase a reman unit and if so would you have any suggestions on where to source something like at a fair price with good quality?
A good reman or a good local rebuild will be the same thing in the end. I've heard good things about the Ford 4R100 HD. There are also a lot of good, local rebuilders. I know some in Florida, but none in NC.
Thanks! To all! All comments and suggestions are greatly helpful! Should have my free replacement radiator from Bullet Proof by the weekend. They sent me one likely split no questions asked. Gotta get the system flushed before installing like GreySD said.
