Wastegate Actuator Turbosmart Install
Sorry for the duplicate post. I think I put this in the wrong forum last night. Bought the Turbosmart Wastegate actuator and up pipes from RiffRaff. It seems like it should be pretty easy but I just want to do it right the first time without having to make adjustments after the fact. Doing the uppies this weekend so I will have the turbo off. I can't find any step by step instructions to make this me-proof. Any guidance would be appreciated. I guess I could call Clay for some insight but thought I'd check here first. Thanks for any help.

I took the turbo out as I was doing the up pipes. Super simple with it out. I don't think I would want to do it with the turbo in though I thought when I was researching I found some threads where guys changed out the wastegate with the turbo still in the truck.

My last foray into wastegate controllers I had to swap them with the turbo installed.
Popping the e-clip off was the scariest part. I put a dab of grease on it, put my thumb on it, and tried to cup it (as a safety measure in case it did go flying) when i popped it loose with a flat blade screwdriver. Luckily I did catch it.
Other than that it just sucks to lay across the engine while you're trying to tighten/loosen the two bolts that hold it to the turbo.
One thing I did not do was test the pre-load. It is easy to get the rod onto the wastegate arm with a little pneumatic air. In hindsight I should have left the e-clip off and take it for a drive and see when the wastegate opened. I could have made a few adjustments to set the pre-load so that it would open when I wanted then put the e-clip on.
As BusyDad metioned, I used dental floss around the e-clip when installing to make sure I didn't lose it. It came in very handy as it took several attempts to get it installed. Then I clipped the dental floss off and was done.
