I found this: 01-22-N11B-3972.pdf It is a note from Ford to the NTSB saying that for incomplete vehicles, whoever completes the vehicle gets to decide what the GVRW actually is.

You can buy yourself some hundreds of pounds of additional capacity just changing all your wheels to aluminum.

Oh, what's your axle ratio and what sort of mileage are you getting? Mine was a crane truck with a final ratio of 5.6, I've been getting about 9.5MPG
FWIW, I bey your truck has a plastic radiator and it's not the mileage but the years on those. Micro-fractures on the top tank can blow suddenly, the $430 for a replacement might be cheap insurance if yours is still original.
Good luck out there.
Mine has the copper radiatir, so its good. Im getting around 13 empty an 10+ loaded. Better than my FI 98 Chevy 3500HD 454! Thanks for the input.

Are you squared away as far as hours of service? Medical cards, annual vehicle inspections? And all that other stuff?

The better organized you are, the better the new entry audit will go and better your CSA score is.

The simplest would be to have a 9000 lb front axle and springs installed.
Can't tell if you have 225/70x19.5's or 245/70x19.5's but 245's have a higher load rating.
Last but some what important is your 23,900 lb rating is already pushing the upper limit of the Allison AT545 transmission.

Nice looking truck, I wish I had your flip forward dog hood, my 93 F-800 has a standard hinged hood, with a 8.3 Cummins it can be a pain to work on.

I like that idea Destroked, thanks for the suggestion. The AT545 is rated for up to 30k lbs, so I believe that link in this chain will be ok.

I think this is the bset advice to you particular situation. My reason is this:

Lets say you stumble upon the deal of the decade,.... a very nice set of of axles from a heavier F700 or even a F800. You may find that your stock springs will Not work with them.
OR they come with springs and they will not bolt to the your factory spring hangers.
OR they have spring and hangers but they now require a taller Frame.

I don't mind automatic transmissions. However, a good 6 or 7 speed manual would be my preference in this sort of setup.
