4.6L intake manifold swap question

All,

I am using a 2007 4.6L 2V engine and trans from a 2007 Crown Vic in a custom 1950 Ford COE pickup truck build that will look like my profile pic.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...coe-build.html

The Crown Vic air intake / throttle body was initially facing directly toward the driver's side fender. It looks like I can easily reverse that to face the passenger side... but that appears to be my only 2 options

I've noticed that any of the 4.6L engines that were placed in the F-150s and Econoline Vans have an air intake / throttle body that faces directly forward.

Does anyone know of a reason why I couldn't swap my intake for one of the F-150 intakes?

I need my air intake to face directly forward. Otherwise, I have to make the cowl inside my '50 Ford COE cab much bigger than I want it to be. If I have it facing the driver's side, it affects my pedal clearance. If I have it facing the passenger's side, it will restrict the passenger's space for their feet...

Let me know your thoughts.

thank you,

--Brian

Pics of my installation -- 4.6L intake questions

Picture from the front looking into the cab:

I rotated the air intake 180 degrees to face the passenger side. I want one that faces forward if at all possible.

you can see it facing the passenger side in this photo also -- one that faces forward would be MUCH better for me.

Has anyone ever swapped the intake manifolds for a different one like what I'm suggesting?

thank you!

I think the intakes are the same, it's the throttle body that's different.

Engine Intake Manifold Upper Dorman 615-375 fits Ford F-150 4.6L # 7L3Z-9424-F | eBay

Or to be more accurate, the "adapter" or whatever sits between the throttle body and the intake.

The intake will swap as long as you get one from another 2v motor

I ended up keeping the same intake manifold... but made a custom adapter plate to rotate the throttle body almost 90 degrees.
