Pulled the dash to replace a bad wiper switch and decided to replace the light switch at the same time. Start the truck no lights, just fine turn the light on then off and parking lights won't turn off? I have to disconnect the battery and start again to turn parking lights off. Bad switch?

 

Thats got to be a bad switch. Assuming you didnt damage the harness end of things Id return that and get another. Curious if your having the "lights out" issue I once had on my 68 F250. Overhead camper, lots of lights, bad grounds causing the headlight switch that has a breaker built into it to over heat and kill the lights intermittently. Pucker factor!!

 

I think it falls into " if ain't broke don't fix it" category. All other lights work correctly and did before I changed the switch. I will swap it out.

If you still have it, put the old switch back in. That'll at least rule out a wiring issue

the parts house probably gave you the wrong switch
