f 350 7.5 Need side by side intake. No luck finding

Hey guys. I still need a intake for my 7.5 f350 as the previous ower has some screwed up lawn mower filter setup thats totally chocking the engine. Looking for a oem intake and air box.
I went to the local junk yard (huge place called stoystown auto wreckers) and the guy brings me a intake that has the hoses that are meant to mount on a throttle body that has the holes mounted one on top of the other (vertically).

My throttle body has the holes mounted side by side. Whats the deal? The guy said that my truck must be california emmisions since the intake didn't work. I don't think it is based on the sticker info, but I really don't know either.

How do I definitivly tell if my truck is california emmisions or a MAF truck?
I know maf has the wire harness to the intake, but since I don't have the factory intake on this truck, then I guess I'll just have to look around for a wire harness thats not plugged into anything??

Dont want to spend 200 plus for a k and n intake either.

1997 f 350 dually lx
2 wd
stick shift Can anyone tell me what type trans I have. 5 speed real low 1st
Really appreciate the help!!

Need to get my rear tank fixed too. truck bogs out here and there when I have the rear tank engaged.

ZF-5 trans was the only manual 5 speed option for the HD trucks. 1st is very low.

What does the EGR system look like on your truck (DPFE type system or is there an EGR valve position sensor)?
Is there an OBDII plug under the dash, below the glove box?
How many oxygen sensors, and is there one after the catalytic converters?

The K&N intake system is not recommended (draws hot underhood air). If you can source a factory intake setup, that is better (draws cool air), just remove the restrictive air horns from it.

If you have an issue with power output on one tank, it is likely a weak fuel pump. You could test fuel pressure first, before changing it, for some confidence that it is the problem. Change the fuel filter while you're at it.

first photo. is that an egr valve? The egr system is pretty hacked. u can see the two cut hoses coming from that plastic box.
Do i need any of that egr crap? I don't think pa does emmisions on this class of vehicle.

I see AIR injection system parts. To my knowledge that system was obsolete on the OBDII trucks as the catalyst system no longer required air injection, so that suggests this is not Cali emissions.

I'm not super familiar with 460's, btw, just restating stuff I've read on here before. Someone with more firsthand knowledge will be able to help you out further.

Okay. so Obd 2 on this particular truck would mean cali emissions? Thanks for the help! hoping someone else can chime in on the intake so I can get this thing running with proper air flow.

I'm also considering removing all the epa crap as its not even functioning due to the po cutting all the hoses.

OMG the person who put those filters on is an IDIOT

Don't worry about putting a K/N filter on. The small difference in engine compartment air will not hurt anything compared to getting more air

I have the intake tubes off a 97 F350 with a 7.5. I'll have to look to see if I have a filter box too.

The hoses the guy tried to hand you are for a 5.8. If your truck runs and doesn't have a check engine light on due to maf unplugged you don't have ca emissions.
Try car-part.com and check all the wreckers in your area. Try eBay also.

Freakin unbelievable that someone that works with vehicles all day every day could be so clueless. Your truck has the big block 460(7.5L) so the intake tubes are different than all the other motors, but this motor was not rare in HD trucks so you just need a stock intake setup from another big block pickup. Also looks like there are other things hacked in that engine bay but they're not as important as the intake filter.

Your truck is not OBD2, I can see the EGR valve with a position sensor on top in one of those pics... OBD2 does not use that type of EGR.

Well thanks guys for the help. I followed the suggestion above to check out car part .com and I found a banks ram air box and the intake hoses. Getting them shipped out from Wa.
Might be a little bit of a performance upgrade lol.

Anyone know if those banks ram air boxes are good or not?

What do they cost? 200ish? Probably not worth the money but are good pieces....the stock intake is pretty good overall. Also, in today's market, 200 for an aftermarket intake is cheap. The prices of intakes nowadays are absurd.

Ya the junk yard wanted 75 for the box and 25 for the hoses, so if all the parts are there then seems like a good deal to me.
