Stock '82 F150 long box reg cab 4.9l 4sp wants a tyre lift.

Hey guys,

I've just resurrected a beater f150. It's an '82 4.9l 4sp reg cab long box. Bought it for $350 Canadian chased all the gremlins away and now it's time to have some fun.

I'd like to put 35" tyres on it without a body or suspension lift. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see exactly what I'd like to do. Show off your pre-97 Ford trucks - Page 58 - F150online Forums

Has anyone here done big tyres without a lift on an older F Series?

Thanks!

35's will never fit a stock truck. best you will get is 33's.

Hi Tom,

44K posts... lol. You trolling me? Hahaha. I'm not worthy. I don't mean to be rude but aren't moderators supposed to read the whole post or tell me I'm using the forum wrong? I asked if anyone has done a no-lift 35 install. Hehehe.. you could have just said, "no."

Google "no-lift big tyres." I assure you, they will fit after enough metal is cut away. The link shows (at the bottom) a stock f150 with 38.5's. If he can do 38's, 35's should be doable.

Has anyone done a no lift big tyre special?

actually i did read the whole post, i just did not click on the link.
if you want to cut the fenders than 35's will fit. i figured you were looking to do stock looks too.
even with cutting, you are going to loose some turning radius because the 35's will rub on full turns unless you do funky offset on the rims.

and i actually have way more that 44,000 posts, but the other 5-6 k posts were made in threads that the posts did not count.
been here for 12 years now. and since i am semiretired and disabled, i don't really have much to do than make useless posts on the internet.

Your turning radius will suck majorly.

My 77 when it had no lift with 38s, and a 92 I have with 3-4" lift and 35s, still had to trim the fender a tad bit to turn.

Nice one! Thanks for that. Looks like you know how to have a good time.

The good thing is I don't care about this truck AT ALL. It's a science project.

Do you think I'll be able to turn once I cut enough away? I'd like to be able to do some serious off-roading (not mud). I'm mostly worried about exposing the inside of the cab to water if I run out of fender and end up cutting floor (or whatever else is in the tyre's path).

Your trucks look pretty tough!

If you plan on doing any flexing I would recommend atleast a 3-4" lift. With 35s you can cut enough fender, BUT you will still end up hitting the frame/radius arms. When the 77 had no lift and 38s it had maybe 50% of its steering was usable.

Now you tell me! Hehehe.. I just bought the 35's. Cut 'n paste until it works. Lift if I need to. I hope the '82 is a little better without the leafs up front.

Thanks dood. I'll post how it went in a couple weeks.

with the 150 you have to worry about hitting the radius arms instead of the leaf springs.

Both of mine are coil sprung with radius arms, not leafs.
