'67 F100 w/3.03: shift rod bushings @ trans? (not @ column)

I'm all set on my shift selector lever bushings for my 3 on the tree. But my searches are coming up empty for these bushings where the shift rods attach to the transmission gear selector levers on the left side of the truck:

Outboard side

Inboard side

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Not sure if this will work with the original shifter or not.

^^The hurst clips likely won't be thick enough. They rely on the spring loaded clip for tension. The factory rods are held by E clips(shown in pic). There is no hole for the hurst clip.

Thanks!

JEFFFAFA, I took apart (destroyed) one of the old ones to take some micrometer measurements. I think you're right - C5TZ-7343-A is probably it. Ironically, I already have a set from D.C. but their description suggests it's also for the column so that threw me off the trail.

Tomorrow, I'll try to fit one and will report back here with the results.

The first set you posted, with the plastic insert, is for the column.

There are no replaceable bushings on the transmission levers.

I wondered about this also because mine desperately need replaced as well, and like the OP have only found the bushings for the column arms and not the transmission arm. But if you guys think either of those will work on the tranny, then I will buy them. Thanks for posting

Neither of these steering column selector lever bushings will work on the trans levers, as there is no way to install them.

Very well, I guess I will find a generic bushing that will fit in there. That sucks. Out of all the parts available for these trucks, those bushings aren't one of them

As usual, sir, you are right. Though I wish this time you weren't. The width of the transmission lever means you have to destroy the new bushing to get it in. So, I've pulled the rod and trans lever to take with me to ACE Hardware tomorrow. I have no choice but to figure out something because my originals are shot. If I'm susuccesful in cobbling something, I'll post back here with pics.

Top is old original, worn and damaged from removal. Bottom is new, showing more narrow profile. Won't work.

If that is the "only" difference I would cut a little of it away with a sharp razor blade to open up that width. CAREFULLY. Never cut towards any part of your body.

Unfortunately, the outer diameter of the bushing is enough that, once you wedge it in, it's compressed. When you then insert the brass, it punches through the rubber and destroys it.

Here's what I came up with today.

Bronze bearing 3/8"OD (ACE Hardware item #58101), 1/2" OD, 3/8"ID Nylon bushing (#40907)
The nylon bushing is basically a press fit into the transmission shift lever. You may need to dress the lever a tad with some emery cloth.

The flange on the bronze bearing is large enough that it will not pass through.

This is what you have before you cut it down to proper width to allow the circlip to be inserted back onto the shift rod

This is with bronze cut down to length. Nylon is already perfect and you can use as a guide to cut the bronze. I used an old copper brake caliper washer on the end.

There isn't much you can do to keep it centered side to side but I'm thinking that should not be a huge problem.

I had the same problem a few years ago and posted a question and my solution but I used Photobucket and the pics don't work now. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-bushings.html The worn out bushings on the shifter arms are replacable. I had a local machine shop make me some out of solid brass, works great. Here are the pics.
