Has Anyone Self-Restored Their Bronco

Has anyone self restored their Bronco? I have seen a early model Bronco in a junkyard lately from the road (I have not seen it up close, but it looks pretty nice with a newish paint job, which could be a bad sign where someone painted over rust.) and have been looking into getting it for a restoration project. I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if all the parts they needed were still available and if they would do it again? Thanks in advance!

I haven't, but quite a few people have. I'm pretty sure most parts are available. But don't count on it being cheap.

There is another site, ClassicBroncos.com, with a lot more early Bronco traffic. You might find more help there.

I have rebuilt 2 of them a 71 and a 75
The 71 I redid 3 times the 1st time I was 19yrs old so the last time I did it I had learnt a great deal
You can buy just about every single part in reproduction check out jeff's bronco graveyard he has a tone of stuff
Rebuilding one nowadays will not be cheap but as far as restorations go they are one of the easiest vehicles to rebuild very simple

My 71 when I was 19

My 71 and my 68.5 mustang GT cobra jet 2 yrs later and my future wife lol

My 71 rebuilt the 3rd and last time

My 75 I did for my son

My 71 and 75 pre rebuild

Yes it was fun rebuilding mine, but your definition of fun may be completely different than mine,
Went from this, to this!

Many different deffinitions of "self restored".
It's often a 'team' (ur $ & time; others paint, mechanical, machineshop & other abilities). The condition of the rig U get &, again, ur time, talent, $, tools, equipment, space, plan…

The 1 thing I would suggest (esp w/a 1st project & even more w/a multipurpose vehicle like a bronk) is do extensive research, come up with the exact application for ur vehicle (on rd? off rd? show? mall crawl, DD, & yes, even race 4 some bronks) and a plan (each component to put the SYSTEM together to achieve that application) AND stick w/that plan to the end. I've seen too many hack jobs from changes in mid-stream…

The EB restoration is pretty easy, with most parts obtainable from many different sources. The only issue will be rust, as that can get a novice in over their head. There are MANY harder restorations. I say, jump in with two feet, inspect the vehicle carefully (research problem areas) and start making a plan. Money can always get you out of any jamb you find yourself in!
