Truck seats

Hey Everyone,
I have started my first project ever, and have made some progress, its running great, and the body and paint are not a total disaster. I am having trouble finding a seat. I have someone who can do the upholstery, but I need the metal thing that goes under the foam. Anyone have any ideas where to get one? I want to make some progress and driving around sitting on a milk crate is weird and not very comfortable and I think it might be illegal. Thanks for helping the new girl!

I have the seat out of my 59 laying outside. It is structurally pretty sound but I'm not sure what you are looking for, the springs?

I think so? I am very new to restoring an old truck, so I need a bit of guidance. Does the 59 seat fit the 60 cab? I don't really know what to call it, but I need the metal thing inside the seat, the bones of the seat, for lack of a better word. Then I can take it to the upholsterer and they can make the foam and leather part that covers the foam. Sorry, I don't know what all these parts are called. If that is the part that you have, it doesn't really matter if the foam or the leather part is bad, because I am having it redone. If you are willing to sell it, I could buy it from you. Can you send me a picture?

I have the whole seat, it just had all the fabric and padding wore out on the driver's side and I found a different seat for mine. 1957-1960 should all interchange and probably some newer ones too. So you just need the bottom seat frame/springs? Not the backrest or the adjusting slider/mounts? Shipping is kind of expensive on those seats.

I think she is looking for the whole seat, one that is complete but doesn't care what the upholstery looks like.

Yes, hotfalcoon, exactly! I need both the back and the place where your butt goes. The whole thing is missing in my truck. Have you ever seen anyone get a 3rd row seat from a ford van to fit? I was looking at some pics of a start to finish build and it looked like the guy used that as his seat. Thanks!

Lots of options on seats.
If you click on search this forum and put in the word seat you will see all the threads that have the word seat in them.
Hope this helps.

Nice truck.

Nice looking truck.
I'm looking for seat ideas also, I have my original seat that needs to be redone but I'm looking for a good set of bucket seats.
More pictures please.

On this discussion not too long ago, someone had used a Chevy pickup seat from the 80s and it fit pretty nice but was a little wider and hit the armrests if you tipped it ahead. Some use the wider of the Caravan or Aerostar rear seat. I have the narrower one in my 29 and it's ok but those are for kid sized butts.

Welcome, M'lady, to F.T.E.
I believe you are asking about the complete Seat Frame & Springs, correct?
Which according to your description of the Milk Crate you are currently sitting on at present, which as you stated already, is Illegal, has been totally removed from the Cab.
I believe I may be able to help you out.
Please contact me at, c o l f l a s h m a n at e a r t h l i n k dot n e t.

Hotfalcoon: I am in Norcal, Bay Area all the way!

Rogue427: You are going to think this is crazy, but I was searching for a truck like mine to get ideas for a place to put my butt other than a milk crate and saw that someone had put a set of Cadillac Escalade seats in, and believe it or not it looks like they fit. The vehicle is sold, but you might be able see the pic on this search.

Col Flashman: I will email you.

Thanks all!
