2017 GTG - September 16th

It will by far be the best thing to do and I'm gonna insist, I don't want to go thru all this time, expense & work of taking this trip to OKIE, bring home all of Gary's stuff, and THEN try to set it all up and make it usable for you, I could spend a week on that chit... you will understand in the end even though you don't see it now, just have faith in us.

Bill and I rented a 4-door F150, this thing is nice! It has power ports inside (incl two 110VAC plus) as well as Ford's Sync stuff with all sorts of apps that connect to modern cellphones, this is nice. Pandora, Sirius, Apple & iPhone integration, navigation via Google maps that announces over the stereo speakers, this is cool!
We just left Memphis, TX, another small, dilapidated town that had a lot of car dealerships at one time (judging by the buildings) but no more, most everything is closed down and boarded up.
We found the dealership in Texas he's been talking about for years, even got a name & telnum of one of the heirs (husband & wife owners have both died) so maybe we'll actually get in touch with somebody someday, they apparently live "out in the country" according to the City Secretary but I thought we were already *in* the country.
Yes, Bill growls at me daily and really makes me feel like chit for several hours whenever I do something not to his liking (I guess I'm supposed to read his mind and already know how to go about doing this) and this happens at least 3 times a day, hopefully he doesn't find himself doing this trip alone while I go home but enough of that, here are the pix of the dealer in TX that he really got upset at me about for posting them to Facebook:

This truck has OH plates, over 16,000 miles when we got it, someone drove it a hell of a lotta miles, because the production date is 4/2017.
btw: In the pic that's 'yours truly' sitting behind the wheel, while Mr. Dazed & Confused (aka Aunt Blabby, aka Mr. Fixit, aka Mr. Clean) was taking the pics.
I'm not going to comment on Mr. Dazed & Confused remarks...at least while he's still here in LA LA Land, but....
Once we left Vernon TX .. there were two very good reasons why I did most of the driving (2,200+ miles!) from thereon.
btw part II: Where are the pics of the GTG? No see um.

This is the 2nd time I've been to this former Ford dealer, the first time was in 1985, it was closed then too.
The family that owns it also owns the former 'Cornbinder' dealer kitty-corner across the street. It was also closed in 1985.
The original owner (now deceased) told me in 1985, that both dealerships closed in 1972.
Many small rural towns in OK and TX have abandoned brick buildings. The young un's move away in search of jobs, the towns begin to die. Sad.
On this road trip, we drove thru at least 50 small towns...looking for among other things, ghost signs.
And btw Sean, I only spotted one other citizen wearing an Hawaiian shirt and this was in OKC several days before we left for LA LA Land.
14 days, over 2,000 miles whizzing thru OK and parts of KS and TX .. Excepting this guy, I had to look in a mirror to see other Hawaiian shirts.
In KS, OK & TX you see gazillions of cowboy hats and cowboy boots that probably have never been 'baptized' yet, but Hawaiian shirts are about as rare as a armadillo doing the shimmy shake-shake.

sorry I did not make the meet, mandatory work day on the Top fuel car to get it ready for the race the next weekend. The blower consumed a couple broken bolts on a pass so I will be awile before it’s back up and running. Now I’m thrashing on my car to make a race next weekend. Just not enough hours in the week.
So guess photobucket now wants 400 bucks to do third parts pictures here are the links to the two photos.

No permits required, most everything I'm doing is Homeowner Right.
The only thing I did that isn't a homeowner right in this environment is install the electricity + light bulb so I can someday put a nice exterior lamp out there on the other side of my garage door.
It will also help light a public walkway next to me.
But I did get a building permit to do the 220V & gas in my garage.
