Kansas City or Dearborn?

Dearborn or Kansas City
It has been my experience that Trucks built in Dearborn are delivered to dealers east of the Mississippi and Kansas City F150's are delivered to dealers west of the Mississippi. I have had F150's built in both plants and the Kansas City plant to me, seems to have better quality control.

Dealer location probably has some influence on where the truck comes from but some plants build certain vehicles that are specific to that plant. Ie. Raptors and Sport SEs. Dearborn does not do Race Red trucks so therefore Raptors and SEs are not available in that color. I, too, thought regional but I see Kansas plant vehicles here in Virginia.

Interesting post I found on one of our "sister" forums.
"The following options are content that is unique to one F150 plant.
Dearborn Truck Plant
Mods, please don't shoot me if we're not allowed to cross-post from other F150 forums. I'm mainly posting given the relevance to the topic of discussion.
BTW: What is a "Crew Chief (47C)"? Guessing some kind of fleet option?

Okay, I've never tried it before myself, but there does look like you can request the plant so long as the plant does in fact make the truck. IDK the CONCEPTs code, but I checked in the newer WBDO and under the "Edit Additional" group you can select KC or Dearborn. Highly unlikely they'll know this as it's such an unusual request, but let em know and they should be able to find it.
The best guru's don't know the answer, just how to find it ;-)

I don't think I need to worry about it too much, as the build I'm specifying will almost certainly be a Dearborn build, based on what I've read here and other F150 forums. But I'll print your post and have it with me when I'm placing my order just to cover all the bases. Thanks again.

Kansas City used to build all the Reg cabs but that changed few years ago when Dearborn was retooled for 13 Gen model. KC builds majority of the fleet orders, and builds Xl, XLT,Lariat, Lobo, and low end King Ranch ( they do not have stainless tailgate panel).Dearborn builds they high end models that are available with electric step. That is because of the flow process between plants and the difference in assembly line. KC has the trucks going through trim department on a conveyor style assembly line with doors already hung on the cab and requires pits in areas to assemble truck and a machine called the decker which lowers cab and body onto the chassis. Dearborn uses a clamshell/moonbuggy design line where trucks are suspended in air and uses platforms, etc and doors are installed on the final line.
Dearborn builds Raptor, Limited, Platnium, SE,and will be building the 18 with diesel
