Rear door panels by Trim Level

OK, so I'm curious. On the front doors, the upper trim area above the armrest and door pull is covered with a soft vinyl...at least on a Lariat. It appears XLT trucks are just plastic. On both Lariat and XLT trucks, the front door armrest is well padded. I imagine KR and Platinum trucks are very much the same on the front doors as the Lariat, albeit with genuine instead of fake wood.

Now, on to the rear doors of the crew cab. The Lariat has all plastic trim above the armrest and door pull. The actual armrest is not pure plastic, but it is a hard, thin, rubbery material that is almost like plastic. The XLT is identical to the Lariat in the rear, aside from a grey trim insert while the Lariat still has a fake wood trim insert.

So for all you King Ranch and Platinum owners, tell me about your rear door trim. I can see on the Platinum, the trim above the armrest is color matched to the dashboard. Is it soft vinyl like the front door upper trim? Or just colored plastic? Is the arm rest on the rear doors padded like the front?

Thanks.

Mornin! I'll have to look again when I walk out but I believe the rear upper is soft vinyl...I know the rear armrest is indeed padded. It's nice for a "back seat".

Thanks, NStorm. One more difference at least the Platinum has over the Lariat.

Rear of the Platinum is the same as the front from what my un-trained eye can tell.

Thanks Andy. If you touch it, and especially give it a little press, you can tell for sure. The upper trim on the front door panels has some softness to it; it is definitely vinyl. The rear door upper trim (at least on Lariat and down) is certainly smooth grained plastic with no give.

Platinum rear door panels are identical to the front - soft vinyl. I just stepped out to the garage and they passed the "soft touch" test.

Awesome, thanks for checking.

Any King Ranch owners willing to check this out for me?
