Yes the Allen bolts will hold the cap to the hub, The big snap ring holds the hub into the wheel hub, the small snap ring holds the axle shaft and hub together.

Edit, this is the small snap ring that goes on the axle shaft, it is possibly all that is holding your hubs in. (Warn hub for my previous 94 F150)

Second edit, granted I am comparing stock replacement Warn hubs to auto hub replacement mile markers, I don't know much about those.

So in other words, if the allen bolts are tight and i can still pull out on the cap, then the hub that the cap is bolted to has to be moving as well. Does this make sense? Thats why i thought it wasnt the oring that was the culprit

Yes. You are correct. The Allen head screws only secure the cap/cover to the hub body. If the cover is moving the the whole assembly is moving and it shouldn't. I am also leaning toward the outer snap ring not being locked in its grooved. It only takes a few minutes to pull the hubs and you don't need to jack up the wheel to check since you aren't getting into the wheel bearings.

Not normal (as already said), but one of the MileMarkers tat came on my '97 F-250 did the same thing (maybe not 1/4", but over 1/8", and definitely enough to let crap in). Mine has a Dana 50 TTB, so it's not exactly the same hub as your F-150, but the overall design is the same.

On mine all of the retainers / seals were in place. I never really figured out what was wrong, i just replaced them with Warns.

Interesting. Has anyone else had this issue with mile markers?

Issue found and fixed. Thanks alot for the help fellas. It turns out the outer oring, not the one that rides inside the hub, but the one that seals the face of the cap to the outer hub assembly itself, was completely gone. I dont even remember there being an oring there, i just remember the one on the snout of the cap that actually goes inside the hub. The tech told me it was rotting away, but I think they may have completely left it off when they turned my rotors a few months back. I just hadnt been driving the truck enough to notice until recently. Anyway, he was super cool about it amd just replaced the orings free of charge. Thanks alot for all the help fellas

Glad it's fixed but their explanation is BS, The O-ring has nothing to do with your issue! I'm going to guess and bet that they found the snap ring wasn't in place and gave you a BS explanation. Lol got to cover your butt you know lol!!!!
