390 blocked water passage need a new block?
So we picked up a decent 65 Galaxie with a rebuilt 390/C6, front discs, basically everything but the interior, paint & body are done. A good start for my kid.
The seller said "I had to sleeve one cylinder" but crawling around under it last night I see a blob of epoxy on the block at #1. Catastrophic failure, sleeved and patched. I imagine the water jacket at #1 is blocked by this and creating the running hot condition.
Should I jam a huge radiator and fans on it? Doing a motor is on the list but dead last on the list. Can I over cool it or will it run hot no matter what I do?

Well at the moment we don't have a functioning temp gauge, Galaxie doesn't just has a "hot" light. When cold it fires up great, after driving it the starter drags and it seems really hot when you open the hood. I know this is a vague shot in the dark but just wondering if I should be looking for another engine block sooner than later. Of course I'm not going to keep a glued together engine but can't pull it now. Will a clogged water jacket on one cylinder have a great effect on cooling?

Cold start is awesome after driving just a short distance the thing gets hot and drags hard on startup. We are going to put a temp gauge in soon but for now we only have the original Galaxie "Hot light"
Took the radiator out and had it checked and shop said its good and plenty for the 390, changed & checked everything cooling related, still hot, won't overheat but just radiates heat from the engine compartment and smells hot if you know what I mean.
After finding the epoxy I am just wondering if a partially blocked passage at #1 cylinder would have a huge effect on water temp. I am not familiar with how the water flows around the motor just thinking it may or may not be the cause.
