Electric cooling fan 92 F250 460

Hello all!
Any recommendation for an Electric cooling fan for my 92 F250 with a 460? I plan on using this truck for towing but I hear you dont want to go electric just stick to the stock fan is that true?

Thanks!

Here's another thread going on right now about someone putting electric fans on a 460, along with a lot of discussion about the merits of electric fans. There are other older threads which will have more tech info as well.

Most people find that the stock mechanical fan works well (as long as it has the stock shroud), and doesn't hurt mileage (as long as the fan clutch is still functional). And it has the advantage of not putting a big load on your alternator.

Electric fans hold the promise of better mileage (which, as discussed in the other thread, is likely not a sure thing). If they are sized and installed properly they can provide better cooling in stop-and-go driving. And they have the advantage of being shut off if driving through deep water or serious drag racing are in your plans.

Personally I'd say electric fans are at least not enough better (and potentially worse) to justify the effort and expense of switching to them. But that's me. They do have advantages, and some people, in some trucks, can definitely benefit from them.

My truck had a big dual flexalite when I bought it. It was useless. I couldn't tow 4000 pounds without overheating. Went to a stock setup, much better! My advice is don't waste your money.

Too be fair (or to play devils advocate, whichever you prefer),that's assuming a flex mechanical and dual electric setup provide the same amount of cooling. What made you come to the conclusion that, if one isn't worth it,then the other must not be either?
