its still in the build stage right now
as for brakes I have the duel piston disc in the front
and I haven't measured my rear drums yet but if there not the 3 inchers ill be upgrading them
I have 31x10.50r16.5 wheels load range d max 2755lbs
I have a tire shop next door he's gonna hook me up with whatever I want for tires to so recommendations are wanted
and I have already called my driveline shop for a extreme estimate on rebuilding the Dana. told I want everything heavy duty if able he said no problem that will be in a few months I still need to take the motor to the machine shop for a block inspection or repair depending on what he finds

Did the driveline shop say what they'd do to the Dana 60? I don't see how they can increase the weight rating. Probably worth putting in new bearings and seals but otherwise a Dana 60 will hold all a 390 can make even if you stroke it. A well built 445 might hurt it if you really hit it hard in low gear. Might consider looking for a Dana 70.

For tires, you'll have more options with 16 inch wheels.

I havent taken it to them but same as the machinist. Ill give it to them they will inspect it thoroughly and depending on condition eather repair anything light. But i said if its more than 40% - 50% of parts damage i want a full rebuild with high quality, heavy duty (when available) parts. Its not to increase capability's. Its to fix and restore so it works optimally for a lot longer. Almost like resting it to zero, but not cause you cant replace some things.
I'm not going to stroke the 390 or upgrade to anything larger I'm happy with the engine drivetrain setup I at right Now lol
tire guy said no problem it'd be a little hinky just find some of the stuff but he can get me a whole extra set for spares if needed
I don't know if he can find me some 16 that I think will look good with it when I'm done I might change

On a completely different subject I want to install a wider seat something that when you shut the doors the truck it squishes the edge of the seat a little bit in
trying to get a little bit more Elbow Room between everybody

Sounds like a good plan for the driveline and motor.

If you find the heads need a lot of work, might consider a set of aftermarkets like Bear Block Motors, Survival, or Edelbrocks along with a hydraulic roller cam. A mild cam and out of the box aluminum heads will wake it up while keeping torque where you want it. Just an idea since you're brainstorming upgrades for drive ability.

Hey good ideas! I got a good mid-range rv cam to take care of the mid gear bog down. Im lookin to get a aluminum intake to take weight an heat down.as for the heads depends on what the machinest says. Im taking the block, crankshaft, piston, and heads to him. I realy didnt like the looks of the valves (none where seated right). Like everything else if there beyond 40% damage im scrapin for new

ok I'm all over the place with this one lol
I'm working in 2 directions right now--- motor and cab
motor question - how much is the weight difference in aluminum heads opposed to cast iron
cab question - does anyone have a later model small ranger with the jump seats in the back I need cab measurements. interior cab length, width. jump seat size.
I like to sit close to the steering wheel and I'm putting in a smaller diameter one so ill have even more room behind the bench seat.
I'm thinkin if I like the numbers I might put a late ranger interior in the 73 f250 and get more seats!

2 iron heads will be roughly 95 lbs while 2 aluminum heads will be around 55 lbs.
An iron intake will be about 80 lbs while an aluminum intake will be around 30 lbs.
So going with all aluminum top end will shave about 90 lbs.

Back when I was a teen, I bought a 73 F250 that had a 10' cabover camper on it. It was a basic truck. Small radiator, no a/c, 360/C6 combo, 373 gears. It handled the weight just fine. I upgraded the radiator to the super cooler 4 core(cut the core support to fit the larger rad) and installed headers and true dual exhaust. The headers really helped.

Well I got some more measurements from the truck yesterday
Found a leaf spring rate calculator and was able to figure out what the rate is on the leaf Springs I have on the truck already
Pretty please with the leaf springs themselves are 1350 pounds each
And then the helpers are 650 pounds each
Totaling out to 2000 on each side
Which ain't that bad actually I'll be adding coilover shocks to the rear also so that would be adding another 500 to each side and then I will be adding more leaves to the helpers and the main setup Springs and then recalculating what its rate is
So that gives me a combined weight total of 4000 pounds before upgrades I don't see it being too hard to push that up to 6 with a few more upgrades

Also think I figured out the seating issue I have in the truck and have figured out how to add another seat in the truck

I have a family of 4 well those trucks dont fit 4 well. So i was thinking what small trucks fit 4+
Thats right newer rangers! Im going to get the bench seats out a standard cab an a jump sear out a extended one.
If i move the original mega seat in big red all the way forward (i like to sit close to the wheel) there is exactly 1 ft of space behind it. The exact amout for a jump seat. So if i install a smaller bench ill have a few more inches of room behind. Fabricate some safty harness for the back seat an we are in buisness
This is all still in theory and testing stage so hold on till i can start mocking it up
Ill be going to the junkyard to measure some benches up soon

Might test drive 4,000 lbs of payload once you have the truck all ready and before you commit to driving with more weight than that. See if you want to go any heavier.

Ya im planin on buying a bedload if railroad ties to test it out.
Also im not planin on having 6g in it all the time or even every once an a while. Im just over engineering everything so i (not dont have to) but can worry less about throwing somthing in it an it handling it
