New R&D billet injector return rails?

With less than 2000 miles on the rebuild, a couple of the return line caps on my 6.9 are already slobbering all over. I'm considering trying out these new return rails. Anyone have any experience with these yet? Do the stock o-rings work with them? Thanks again!

I'm also considering these. After my turbo swap my maybe 1 year old caps are leaking and allowing air in overnight. Last time I ended up changing orings and reinstalling caps 3 times before it was fixed.

I've had this one going for a few months now, overall it's been great. I'm just getting tired of having fuel leaks, been dealing with it on and off for the 10 years I've owned the truck. It seems like a slick idea, I think it would look badass too. Those little hoses and o-rings don't seem to last as long as they used to either. Just curious if anyone else has any experience with these.

I have some individual return caps on my 87,
with Viton o-rings
ive had it running for about 7 months, and my O-rings need to be replaced on 1 injector, the rest are golden.
there is not 1 thing in this world that's as good as they used to...
technology...

Yeah technology and mass producing a product as cheaply as possible, unfortunately quality and longevity almost always suffers. The flip side is, many things in the automotive industry have greatly improved. I guess it's six of one and a half a dozen of another.

Are aluminum return caps available? Or would I be better off going with the one piece rails from R&D? Aren't the o-rings that come with the return line kits viton? If not that is probably the main reason for leaks, almost any kind of rubber o-ring would break down and fail sooner or later.

Dunno about the aluminum stuffs but ever since I went to viton O-rings and used lots of motor oil to install them I've never had leaking issues. I also did the return line delete from the filter head which helps. I've bumped and messed with those caps a whole bunch and no issues. I'd guess 60-80,000 miles since I did them.

Use Viton O-rings and lube everything with high temp grease. Works wonders. I haven't had any failures since I learned about this trick, even when disturbing the return caps on a regular basis.

no they are not available, they are a custom job that I stumbled upon.

Pretty sure that *all* types of cap will need an O-ring... and that's the weak point here.
I've still got factory gray paint return caps that are doing their jobs still, though the plastic does get a little more brittle after 25 years.

One-piece rails or aluminum caps doesn't affect the need for O-rings. I actually have a set of aluminum caps I made back in school with threaded hose barbs... the caps worked fine, but I could never get the darn O-rings to seal.
...Of course, that was before I learned about the grease trick, so...

Ive had pretty good luck with using clean diesel or ATF to lubricate the o-rings. Never tried grease, makes perfect sense though. Hard starting has not been an issue since I installed the Duralift pump, I just hate leaks of any kind. I think I'm going to spring for a set of the R&D return rails. I like the fact that it eliminates many of the possible leak areas.
