Just became new owner of a 1994.5 Ford F Super Duty with the direct injection 7.3 turbo diesel. It has a 10' flatbed that has a pto driven dump and it has the 5 speed transmission. GVWR of 15,000 lbs. It runs good, has 130,000 miles and I paid $4,500 for it.

Welcome! If there are no major mechanical issues then it sounds like you got a good deal on it

No AC, that's what windows are for.
Im going to build some higher rails on the bed and use it primarily for hauling stone to maintain my driveway. It's 3/4 of a mile long to the spot where I'm building a new house.
I'll also use it occasionally for hauling and towing other things.
It had no mechanical issues on the 2 hour drive home but it has barely been driven for the last 10 years.
I need to change the fluids, get new tires, and rewire some of the lights.

I don't need 4x4.
Once I get all the regular maintenance stuff taken care of, I would like to do whatever mods I can that will increase power or fuel economy without decreasing the other.
I just don't want to do anything that will decrease the life of the motor or truck.
Anything else I should check besides that intake boot?

Does it have cruise control?

4x4 is a must for me, but if you don't need it, then you don't need it.

What do you plan on using the truck for?

You can run 350-400 hp pretty cheap and reliable. Over 400 and the $$$ go way up for reliability. Most HP mods in the 350-400 hp range won't hurt fuel economy if (and that's a big if) you can keep your foot out of the go-pedal!

Dayum, smokin' deal! The dump bed works? Does it have an AIC to boost the idle, or is that not needed?

You got a lot of truck there for less than five large.

I think 4x4 would be a lot of money to install. I also read that parts are very hard to find for the 4x4 conversion. It wasn't a factory option on this truck. Only aftermarket. It has heavy axles with 10 lug wheels.

Dump bed works good.
No cruise control but I wouldn't want it anyway for my use. No aic that I know of. The dump controls are next to the shifter so I can give it throttle with the peddle when dumping a load.

Its not going to be a daily driver. Main use will be hauling stone for my driveway and other materials on my farm. I'll probably tow a trailer once in a blue moon.
Other than that, maybe just take it on a joy ride now and then, I've never owned a diesel before, it's fun to drive.

I'm reading that peak HP on the stock motor is 215. It drives ok with the stock motor.
I can't imagine needing more than 350-400.
