I thought I would see what every one is running for oil and what intervals you are changing it in? I run in what I would call severe duty but am really wondering if the Rotella synthetic would fit my bill?

Shell Rotella 15W-40.

In a severe duty application change the oil every 3,500 miles and the fuel filter about every other oil change or so.

For cheap oil I've always run Delvac. More moly than most cheap oils. I run red line 15w40 in mine though

Rotella 15-40 at 5k intervals. Have used Delvac as well. Some use Motorcraft 15-40. Pick one and go with it.

What ever is on sale, prefer Shell Rotella.
When I used the Mule at work I use the oil we buy for the equipment and diesel truck (Sinopec 15w-40 synthetic blend) and it was good oil, lets see if I can take a sample and send it to black stone labs to see how well its doing.

I have always used Rotella in the 6.4 powerstroke I previously had, and the do I dare say Duramax I currently own. I have had great luck with it I was just curious if there was something better out there for these 7.3s? Judging from your responses I will keep with it in all my diesels.

That should work just fine. I don't have any real complaints about a dirtymax. But I prefer my powerstroke.

I love mine but it's definitely not a work pickup like my 7.3

I ran delvac in my lb7 duramax. Pulled the heads at 185k to replace the head gaskets and the inside was as clean as if it had just been overhauled. Delvac is a good oil. Many use rotella and swear by it too.

Any oil is good as long as you change it often.

I get asked this frequently.
I say the cheapest 15W40 oil you can find and change it at 3000 miles.
If your truck pushes even a hint of black smoke at all, ever, that 3k miles should be the ceiling on the interval. If it's bone stock, you can probably go 4k or even 5k keeping a close eye on how clean the oil is.
