Factory power folding step plugs??

Are these plugs for the factory power folding steps and if so would it be that easy just to bolt on and plug in?

My understanding is that these are for lights on the running boards. They come on for a brief amount of time when you hit the unlock button.

As for all I know, the OEM powered RBs cannot be added after the factory as the harness is different and they tie in all the way up to the infotainment screen. Many have added AMP steps including myself, and they offer a plug and play that connects to your OBD2 plug for operation (including puddle lights). It works great through you may want an OBD2 splitter (cheap from Amazon) if you are using another OBD2-connected device.

Perhaps it is indeed the lighting wire for truck with lighted running boards like the KR. I'll have to check on mine. If I have it, it would be nice to add some LED lighting above my boards and run it off that harness. Test probe time...

The power running board wire/plug come out of the floor under the drivers/passenger carpet. Just ahead of the seats there should be either a grommet and wire, or just a grommet I believe. Ok I just looked it up it looks to be the running board lighting.

I finally got around to checking this plug and the above is correct. It's indeed for running board lighting. It powers on with the mirror puddle lights when the door is opened and shuts off with them when it's closed. I may look into some LED lights to illuminate my running boards that I could tie into this lead.

so would this work if we purchased factory running boards and hooked them into here?

The OE KR steps are lit so they should plug right in...
