Yeah I saw his thread. Thanks for posting it. It gave me more solidarity on the issue it could be having. It's good for now though at least enough for me to get the air out.

When an o ring is bad like in it has a slit you can go thru 1 gallon of oil every 50 miles. Remember when we test drove the truck after we did the HPOP and I told you your truck was smoking blue? Maybe it started from there?

Is that your fuel Byron? Maybe the oil is getting returned to the fuel tank.

It could have started then Adam. I only lost about two quarts on the drive back to California. And yeah, that is a fuel sample I took today from my filter/water separator. Not suppose this dark...see below

That looks bad, I wonder why it happened? By any chance you think the metal shavings cut the O rings ?

I think it's a pretty good chance it chewed up more than one. Yeah, that's a lot of oil in that fuel.

Well that's an interesting turn of events! I was talking with Jarrett and we both said that it would be a miracle if you made it out of this without the metal shards tearing up your o rings. I hope you've solved it!

Thanks Bryan. I think the issue is solved, but yeah, I didn't get lucky enough to escape doing Orings it seems. I'll find out more after my drive this morning.

Well he's up and running. I buttoned everything up this morning and took him for a hard run to get the air out. I drove a total of 55 miles. I pulled over into a fueling station at 22 miles to check everything over. Good news is there are no leaks and all is well with the cooler. The bad is he used a gallon of oil in that 22 miles!! I put another gallon in and drove the 25 miles back home.

Now I don't know if it's the age of the truck and the mileage, or if the brass in the oil from the Hpop debacle, or the new pressure from the new Hpop caused the O-rings to blow all of the sudden. I only think that is possible because this was a very sudden change. Either way, I'll be pulling injectors tonite and post up what I find. I hope this is the last thing I do for awhile. Thanks for the support fellas.

Byron, can you say for sure that the cooler and check valve were the cause of low-no oil pressure? It sounds like it! Was there brass in the old cooler? If you answered all this before, sorry, I'm a little behind.

Glenn, as much as I hate to admit what an idiot I think that I am, I believe that the problem was caused by what you will see below.

Seven injectors were completely missing the middle O-ring and the one injector that had an O ring on it was all chewed and was only about halfway there. Now I don't know if the brass in the oil chewed them up and spit them out or if they were just aged or if somebody did a previously botched job on injector O-rings, but I believe they started to go and exacerbated my loss of oil which caused the low pressure problem to begin with. Now my check valve in my oil cooler head had to be restaked with a center punch, and it was hanging up somewhat, but after soaking it in oil overnight it moved pretty freely.

What I found today tells me just how tough and reliable the 7.3 is. My truck was running and seemed to run fairly well even with missing all of these O-rings.

All I can say is that this is been a huge learning lesson for me and I feel like I know and understand a lot more than when I started. The injectors will go back in tomorrow with all new Alliant Orings and I will update then.

Hmm... This is very interesting because that is what all 8 of my injectors looked like. Kinda hard to see but here's a pic:
