P/N ? Fuel Pump Pulse Damper, 85' 5.0L, Single Tank

1985 F-150 Lariat, 5.0L, EFI, Standard CAB, Single Tank, 2WD

Any body have any Part Number information on a Fuel Pump Pulse Damper?

In-line, just before the Fuel Regulator in the rubber Fuel Line coming from the HP Fuel Pump.

Or is it a filter? Will pull it out this weekend.

Thanks.

Chris, it is not on the document. I was looking at this one and the two of the rest of the fuel system at the dealership a few days ago with no joy.

I'm going to pull it off in a few days, maybe there will be some numbers on it. It looks to be 32 years old. Thanks.

My old 86 SVO mustang had one in the line up near the fuel rail on the engine, and it sort of looked like this one.

Standard FPD1 Fuel Injection Pressure Damper fit Ford Thunderbird 89-89 L6 3.8L

Gary, this object does not show up in any of the drawings. However, it is in-line installed in the middle of the Hose # 9J323.

My understanding is that the 85' F150, 5.0L EFI was an option, that first year of available F150 EFI, and made standard in 86'. So maybe it was an afterthought. If it is a Pulse Damper it would not be a carryover from 84' F150, but maybe from the 83/84 automobile EFI systems. Thanks.

That is a great find if you could not find one cheaper, and needed to replace one. That one is a different shape than my cylindrical one is, but would provide the same function and would fit in place of mine. I put it on my wish list. Thanks

I wonder if it is E57A 9155-HA? I Googled that number and the first hit reminded me that I'd run into something similar on Ray's truck a few years ago and it was discussed in this thread.

Here is what is said about it in the catalog:

There's no 9J323 on a car.

Pic: Here's what the truck parts catalog says inre to E5TZ-9J323-A

If one doesn't have the exact same description that FoMoCo calls a specific part, lotsa luck finding it in the text.

I looked for damper: nothing, looked for pulse, found a pulse air valve for the T/E system...and that's it.

Edited;

That makes sense. So it is may be a secondary fuel filter on the fuel line coming from the primary fuel filter connection according to Gary's post. Then there is another fuel line from the secondary fuel filter to the fuel rail/regulator connection.

My primary fuel filter in in the reservoir mounted on the frame. (9K044)

But, Bill's post shows a fuel line 9J323 from the HP pump to the fuel rail, nothing in-between.

So what/where is the 9H323 CAP (Fuel pressure relief valve)? Sounds like a Damper to me.

Edit; correction, Not a Damper, a real Cap for a 9H321 Schrader Valve.

First, I found that I had a page missing on my web site for the 302/5.0L's EFI illustrations - the page with the stuff up on the engine. I've added it: 1985 F-Series 302 w/EFI - ???Gary's Garagemahal.

Second, the illustration for the 5.0 does appear to show 9H323. However, it does show it for the 460, as shown below. It is just a cap for the fuel pressure relief valve 9H321. I can't find either of those on the 5.0's drawing, although the catalog says all with CFI or EFI used both of them.

I believe this is the protective cap for the Schrader Valve that does not exist on the 85'.

Which means the Text part of the catalog is wrong since it says "All", and the Illustration part is right since it doesn't show it for the 5.0L.
