'11 6.7 Repair Estimate - Ford Dealer

I bought this truck new. An '11 F250 6.7. Haven't had any problems until last week. Today I got the repair estimate from the Ford house.

Tech's notes:

Repair 1 (check engine came on last week):
DEF SENDER LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT FAULT THE LEVEL SENSOR INSIDE THE TANK (WHICH IS ALSO THE SENDER AND HEATER) IS FAULTY CAUSING CEL AND DERATE OPERATION. REMOVE THE DEF FLUID TANK THEN THE DEF PUMP TO ACCESS AND REPLACE DEF SENDER ASSEMBLY

Repair 1 parts and labor total $950.

Repair 2 (I've been smelling coolant, outside not inside, no coolant on ground - waiting for the next service - then the check engine light came on last week):
TURBO COOLANT TUBE 1. TURBO COOLANT TUBE FITTING 1. TURBO OIL TUBE 2. TURBO OIL TUBE FITTINGS... COOLANT BOTTLE LOW. TURBO COOLANT TUBE TO TURBO LEAKING AT TUBE/FITTING CONNECTION. HAVE TO REMOVE THE INTAKE TO ACCESS AND REPLACE BOTH THE TUBE AND FITTING. SLOW OIL LEAKAGE FROM TURBO OIL TUBE AT TOP FITTING. BOTH LEAKS ARE KNOWN CONCERNS. THE OIL LEAK ISN'T BAD ENOUGH TO CAUSE OIL DRIPPING ON THE GROUND. IT IS SLOWLY SLOWLY RUNNING DOWN INTO THE INTAKE VALLEY ALONG WITH THE LEAKING COOLANT. CAN EASILYRESIDUE FROM WHERE COOLANT LEAKS DOWN THE BACK OF ENGINE.

Repair 2 parts and labor total $810

Plus tax gets a grand total of about $1825. Ouch.

For a truck that has an easy life and only 68k miles?! Wow! Anyways, Repair 2 can't be avoided and seems if left unresolved it could cause turbo problems down the road. Don't want that. Repair 1, however, could be properly repaired... or it could be addressed by deletes. Pretty ignorant about the topic though.

The most basic delete would be DPF only? That would resolve the Repair 1, yes? Then there's EGR delete? If I'm correct thus far then EGR delete has no bearing on Repair 1. What other deletes are there?

I'm in the Plano, TX area. I'd like a recommendation on a diesel shop to take my truck to for the repair and delete(s).

Thanks.

So you have used it for six years and 70,000 miles and all it needs is $2000 bucks? Doesn't seem too bad to me.

Don't want to derail the thread but my Dodge went over 100k before an out-of-pocket (no warranty) repair and it was a thermostat. Almost 120k, the water pump. Combined those aren't at all close to $2000 bill I'm facing on a 70k mile vehicle. So comparatively speaking, yes it's bad.

Back to the topic though - looking for some info on deletes and a diesel shop recommendation somewhere around Plano, TX.

I didn't spend $70,000 on a new Truck that couldn't make it to 100,000 miles without having a breakdown. I understand maintenance, and maybe a couple of nickel & dime items here and there, but $2,000 at 68,000 miles .. I'd be furious !
My expectations equal the price they charge for new vehicles.

Looks like I'm going with a DPF and EGR delete. No muffler. Shopping for a tuner now. The SCT Livewire TS+ is appealing, as is the SCT ITSX and the Edge Diesel Evolution CTS2. Any feedback on tuners?

Some shop is trying to sell me an H&S Mini Maxx but it looks like H&S is defunct. Not real keen on buying the product then. Thoughts?

Anything else I should consider but don't know to since this stuff is foreign to me?

Thanks.

Just wait until your evap core goes bad. Seems to happen in a lot of 2011/2012 SDs. Mine was north of $2K to replace. Call me crazy but I like cold air in the summer time.

I got a diesel mechanic recommendation from a local, trusted mechanic. My truck is now fully deleted and the coolant issue is resolved. Amazing difference, dig it!

Way too early to say - I haven't even driven it 5 miles yet. I'll report back in this post after a few days, maybe a week or so.

So far I have increased about 3 - 3.5 MPG. I haven't been using the vehicle as normal and when I have been using it I haven't been driving it normal since I've felt like I'm 16 again! ...driving it like I stole it!
