Need a little wheel & tire advice...

Ok fellas, I thought I knew what I wanted, but I'm on the fence right now. My buddy Rodney helped with a decision on wheel style, now I need to make decision on size. My truck currently has the factory 20's on it (34.1" diameter Michelins). 90% of the time it has my monster toyhauler hooked to it, so I don't want to compromise it's towing ability just for looks. Suspension is stock, I don't want to level it either. So my original plan was this:
20x10 Fuel Assaults, -18mm offset with the Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.5x20 tires (34.75" diameter). I like the look of the Ridge Grapplers and their 35's have the highest load capacity I could find (3640lbs.) That's about 100 lbs. less than the factory Michelins. The setup would be similar to this:

Second option I'm looking at is:
20x9 Fuel Assaults, +1 offset with 295/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers (35.1" diameter, 11.7" wide). These have a 4080 lb. load capacity, but are about 1" taller than my factory tires. This what the +1 offset looks like:

So I'm at a crossroads... Do I go with the taller, narrower tire and 20x9 wheel for the added tire capacity? Or go with the wider 35" tire (which is closer in diameter to the factory tire) and 20x10 wheel that has a little less capacity? These wheels and tires aren't cheap, so I don't want to make a mistake.

When I bought my 2015, I ran over and put one 20x9 -12 offset wheels with the Toyo 295/65R20 AT/2 tires.

Even with a stock F350, I had no rubbing and they gave me plenty of load capacity for my GN horse trailer. Those tires ran well over 50,000 miles and I took them off last fall as hunting season rolled around with 5/32s of tread left. I just didn't want to mess with muddy forest service roads and winter snow on the last of the tread on those tires. If it had been summer I would have ran them down to 3/32's

Because my nephew owed me some favors, I picked up a set of his Patriot brand M/T tires in a 35x12.5 and put on the same rims. I lost a lot of Load capacity with these MT tires vs the previous Toyo's, which has me a little worried every time I hook up the GN. They sing louder on the hiway than the old AT tires and they barely rub my mud flaps at a full turn. If I didn't have mud flaps, there would be no rubbing. With 10,000 miles on them I'm still showing around 16-17/32s of tread. So they are wearing great.

So if you are not leveling your truck and towing heavy like you said, I'd go the 20x9 with a -12 offset and the 295/65R20 tires. They will fit just fine

I recently installed Toyo Extreme AT2's in 295/65/20 on my truck and really like them. The load capacity is way more than I will ever need. They aren't terribly loud, track well and give great traction in my pasture.

The Assaults are currently top of my list, I am between +1 or +20 on the D546, like the flat matte finish. This would be with a 20x9

Remember that in some states you need fender flares as the entire tire must be within the wheel well...

I would go with the first ones Tony. The second ones with Larry the Cable Guy have too aggressive looking of a sidewall and it takes away from the wheel to me.

Thanks everyone, for the comments and recommendations. I'm going to stick with the 20x9 and 295/65 tires for the extra load capacity. It'll give me more peace of mind on those long hauls through the mountains with the toyhauler.

Rodney, I was thinking the same thing about the aggressive sidewalls on the Ridge Grapplers. After watching both videos many many times, I do like the look of the Toyo Open Country RT better. However, that particular tire doesn't come in the size I'm looking for, so maybe I'll go back to the drawing board on the tire choice....

I shot soda out my nose when I read that comment, Rodney... He does sound like Larry the Cable Guy...

I would go Nitto Terra Grappler G2 in 295/65R20. Good to 4080#.

I'll take a look at those, as well as the Toyo AT2 extremes. I'm looking for something that looks aggressive, but also doesn't take too much away from the wheel. It also has to be somewhat quiet too, I don't want to listen to my tires howling on a long roadtrip with the XLR.

Noise is your enemy with tires that resemble a mud profile. The Terra Grappler G2 are quiet on the highway and have a tread compound that lasts FOREVER. Great semi aggressive AT that won't take away from the wheels, won't be noisy, and will offer good treadwear....

Yea, it looks like I'm gonna have to go put hands and eyes on some tires. I can't really tell from pictures alone... I've never had to buy tires before. I've never kept a vehicle long enough for it to need new tires. I don't even need new tires for a truck with 12k miles, I just want a new look...

Agreed. I ran Terra grapplers on previous truck and have no complaints at all. Ever so slight tire noise, but nothing that stood out

That's my problem too. Never have to put new tires on... Now I need two sets, a winter and a summer.

As I am getting closer to pulling trigger, I recalled this thread and am curious if you landed a decision or still up in air
