Power steering pitman arm travel limiter

On the F250 that I pulled the Bendix power steering box there was a bracket bolted to the frame that straddled the pitman arm to limit its travel. Unfortunately I was unable to remove this bracket because the hex rounded off the nut on the bolt that went through the frame.

I have not been able to find any mention of this bracket in this forum. The manual steering gearbox on my F100 does not have this bracket. Is this bracket unique to a Bendix power steering box or just on F250s with power steering? Do I risk damaging something if I don't install this travel limiter?

Thanks so much ND, you are an incredible resource for us here!! I won't lose any more sleep about not getting this part while I was there. I wonder why someone would have gone through the trouble to install it on a '66? It was pretty heavy, so I'm glad I don't need to ship it back home.
