Aluminum crossover intake on 4.6...different from plastic?

I am a Thunderbird guy and I wasn't gretting any play on this question on our board so I came here.

My intake blew the other day and it was replaced with the aluminum crossover manifold. My question is...Is this manifold designed differently form my original? ( Aside from the aluminum part.) My car seems to perform alot better since the change to the aluminum crossover unit.

It was just beefed up with the aluminum parts. The others were cracking too easily, especially on Police Cars.

I wish they had given me this one in the first place! I thought the design was different somehow, it still seems to perform a little better at lower rpms, the car seems to accelerate faster. I'm just glad i do not have to worry about the cracking anymore.
