Had a pretty cool conversation with a guy this morning who has worked in petroleum for 25 years. His job for the last 20 has been diesel refinement and quality control for all the major, and some minor, fuel companies. Long story short, he told me that lubrication additives and water emulsifiers are already in the fuel. In fact, some additives, such as PS and OptiLube actually harm the lubricants already added. He told me in no uncertain terms to not waste my money on off-the-shelf additives. He also said he had nothing to gain by telling me that. He said, "I just don't think people need to waste their money to feel better for pouring something in their tank".
I dunno...food for thought. I am beginning to think about doing away with additives and have for awhile. I already quit using OptiLube due to the alcohol content. Two cycle oil may go away next.

When I run out of my additive for a few tanks I can feel the difference, once I put the additive back in it runs and sounds amazing.

Who ya gonna believe what someone tells you or your own eyes? No matter what someone says I won't beieve it till I see it with my own eyes. I've been outting additives in all my dieseld for 30 plus years and I can hear and feel the difference in the engine and feel of the truck.

You mean believe someone who actually works in the industry and understands the science of it over someone who appears on the forum and tells me they "feel" the amazing difference? LOL....read what you wrote and try again. Keep on spending your money and be happy. Doesn't matter to me either way.

I have run 2 stroke oil in my IDI for years to help protect the inj pump with todays low sulfur fuel. Gallon at wally world on sale was less than 10 bucks. its been running fine for 10 years.
I have not run any additives in my 95 F350. many have said the HEUI system don't need it. reading some that have 600k + miles with nothing special tells me its a waste of money.
I also run a bit of 2 stroke oil in every carbureted engine I own now.
I fought carb issues with ethanol on my 84 JD 420 and noticed my 91 KDX dirtbike never had the issues. Always started in three kicks or less after sitting a month. The oil is left behind once the gas evaporates and the jets don't corrode. I have not cleaned a jet in ten years now and my 420 sat for three yeas and started right up.
