New 1960 Truck/Build thread

I picked up a new truck over the weekend. I was very excited but feeling a bit overwhelmed now. Per the previous owner the engine is rebuilt and the transmission was converted to automatic. The front has power brakes and the suspension seems to be lowered other than this I do not have that much info. Motor is a 289. Any help with what im dealing with is greatly appreciated. I picked up an EZ wire kit. Hoping to get this wired And running soon.

Do not feel overwhelmed, as you're in a Lot Better shape w/ your Orphan Years Truck than the Majority that have had to finish what a F.O. had started.
The 289c.i. engine was not available in '58, or was what is more than likely the matching C4 Auto-Trans attached to it.
Your '58s ride height definitely looks to be Lowered, as my '58 Merc M-100 rides much Higher than yours.
Her Power Brakes are of the converted verity as I see a Dual Stage Master Brake Cylinder, which is more than likely from a late '60s or early '70s Mustang.
You'd have been better off w/ an OME Wiring Loom, as then all you'd have to have to do is follow the Original FoMoCo Wiring Diagram instead of attempting to puzzle out an After Market Wiring Loom.

I love these trucks, some of the easiest trucks ever to work on.
I do not see a brake booster.
Good luck and keep those pictures coming!!

It's a 60 hood and 59-60 front fenders. You might want to post your vin plate info and you can find out a lot.

Thanks all. I currently do not have a fan for the radiator. Would any fan fit? Or should I be looking for a mustang fan since it is a 289 block?

Is anyone able to tell me if I am missing wires or may I have a different manufacturer steering column?

I'd go electric pusher fan. You would be surprised how little they actually run and it frees up a few ponies.
