Interesting and not something I'd thought about? Due to weight an rolling resistance? I'm looking at a 11 6.2l F150 Platinum right now with 20's and 3.73 limited slip. Max I'll be towing is around 6500 - and it seems like it should do it fine.
In the F150 I wouldn't worry so much. There's no doubt the 4.10's would be better, but finding a used Platty 6.2 F1 prolly isn't easy as it is. Get a good deal, you can always re-gear if you ever find the want.
I hated gmc until I bought my wife a 6.2 v8 Denali Yukon. I was jealous lol. The 5.0 ford couldn’t touch that gmc 6.2 and the best ford motor I have ever had was the straight 6 in my 1985 f150 it has 300 thousand miles on it and the oil pump went out and I ended up with a 6.2 v8 gmc denali pickup. The economist just didn’t have it I drove them all thinking the dodge would be a contender. Not even close as well.
I agree with Ron94150, my ecoboost with 3.73 gears pulls like a power stroke diesel. I pulled a full size caddy across nc and could not believe the pulling power it has. i came from diesels and a 6.2 F350. i am a firm believer in these little engines.
The 2018 F150 ecoboost tow ratings are in 3/4 ton territory. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it has a higher tow rating than a 2013 6.2L F150 and I bet it would probably out pull it.
