68 F100 SWB Coyote Swap Build Thread

I'm finally far enough along to start a build thread on my 68 F100. After searching for over a year I spotted this gem on Craigslist in North Carolina, about a 6 hr. drive. It's a 68 Swb Ranger that was very solid. Had a little rust inside of the bed but rest of it was very solid. Truck had no motor or trans and I picked it up for $2300.

Truck was a perfect candidate since I had this in my possession

2013 GT with a 6spd and 3:73 gears with 36k miles.

So the work begins!!!

Had truck stripped to a bare frame in a day, starting CV swap. I bought the crush tubes from Ford and welded in.

Prepping the frame. Welded close to 200 holes on top and side of frame.

Painting Frame gloss black.

Replacing the oil pump and crank gears. I was worried about them since car center punched a tree and crank pulley was broke. I also wanted to replace them for a future blower install. Good thing I changed the crank gear, had a crack in it.

New front cover and water pump installed. Going with a KRC power steering kit. Plan on using stock alternator and A/C pump.

Motor installed! Used the CV motor mounts and built a relocator plate that moved engine back 2.5 inches.

Modded the stock transmission cross member to house the stock mustang tranny mount

Wheels are 3 piece True Forged, they are billet with chrome plating. Fronts are 20x9.5 with 275/35 nitto 555 g2, rears are 20x12 with 315/30 tires.

Going to have to use a small spacer for the rears!
Bed has been acid dipped, going to get some primer on it this week.

That's about it for now. Going to strip the front clip and send it to be dipped this week. Gotta a lot of little things to tie up on it at this point. Thanks for looking.

Few pics of gas tank. Went with one from Tanks Inc with an efi pump. It's a 16 gallon for a 65-68 mustang. Nice snug fit. I went with the 16 gallon so it can't be seen from the rear once the roll pan is on. The bigger mustang tanks hang down another 2" or so.

Looks really nice. I feel ya on filling the holes in the frame. I did mine as well; Ford went over board on those. Good thought on moving the engine back as well. What color you going to paint the truck?

Thx man that means alot coming from you! Love your truck. Yeah I dont know what Ford was thinking with all the frame holes, crazy! As of now im going with Huntingdon Blue Pearl, probably the whole truck. I was going to tu tone with a pearl white, but I may just do a white or gray stripe off set on drivers side of hood and possibly over the roof, not sure on that one, and I gotta decide if im running the bump chrome strip or not. Def. not running the bottom or tailgate trim. Lots of decisions!!

Local chemical co. here in PA, they got a hell of a business going, they are booked till June with complete car bodies. Im hoping they can sneak my cab in sooner since ive taken all my other parts there. It does a nice job, totally strips paint, no residual sand to worry about or warping of the metal.
