After seeing this I'll most likely move the rears forward but it'll likely be the last thing I do. My local Sunbelt has mag drills so I'll snag one of those and move them in May.

Coated the hood in Citrigel, ate through the paint easily. Cleaned the rest off with a paint wheel on my angle grinder before using some Marine Clean and 3 coats of POR15. Think the picture is only after 1 coat then, hence the transparency.

What color and type of paint did you use on the head?

Duplicolor Red Engine Enamel? I think I still have the can at home. Same color as my block.

Man that red really pops, I been thinking about painting my engine that color. The color of the truck is going to be the original meadow green. I wonder if the paint will work on an aluminum engine? I think I might have to use a special etching primer to ensure good adhesion, I'll have to research that.

I think that red is a great contrast against that meadow green.

Today I'm removing the 4 cab bolts and hoping I can remove the cab. I only have ~6" above the cab until the ceiling so I'm hoping some combination of tilting and lifting works.

Is there anything I can do with the column to allow it to rotate or pivot? I've removed the column support under the dash, I've pulled the panels on the floor around the column but I'm still not sure if I can clear the column. Some pivot on that column would really help...

Advice experts?

Nevermind, pulled the column. The pitman arm gave me some struggles but I found a jaw puller that worked fine. Cab up next!

Took me an hour with the cutoff wheel but the cab is free! Over the next 2 weeks I'll get the frame down to bare metal and POR15'd. Then everything will start to get reassembled.

Goal is a running, driving, painted truck by June.

And of course I need to credit my amazing girlfriend for doing all of the paint/rust removal on the body so far..

Good luck with your time table! I hope you reach your goal. With the help of a girlfriend you probably will. She sounds like a keeper!

Haha ambitious I know. Unfortunately she's gone all of March and I'm gone a few weekends coming up which will slow me down..but I'm also taking off all of April to get some truck work out of the way. Luckily work was understanding about my need to finish up an old Ford and gave me 5 weeks of free time to do it in.

And yes she most definitely is. She's probably more excited than I am to see it finished, plus she did the 37 hour straight round trip drive to Boise to pick it up from my storage..skipping her spa weekend..

New updates:

Front Axle removed and leaf packs pulled.
Started cleaning the frame to prep for paint.
One brake fully torn apart. Was hoping to get away with wheel cylinder rebuild kits but no they're toast..
Rear wheels off and the three screws holding on the brake drum are not going anywhere soon..
Started cleaning the trans with a pressure washer and a gallon of degreaser. Think the gears look alright ya?

Alex
