V10 power in a van (governed)

yes, this post is a duplicate of the one I put in the Econoline section... making sure all my FTE buddies read it

Yesterday I was on a country road in line behind three cars and a semi. The line was led by a slow-moving AutoZone maintenance truck doing five under the speed limit…
First available opportunity I gave the skinny pedal 100% and passed the whole line. It made me wish I had a high performance muffler :-)
Just as I got to the front there was a good deal of spark knock as usual, and much to my surprise and dismay the engine completely died out. But I had enough speed and travel to still pull in front of the whole line. I was quickly refreshed when the engine started pulling after a moment. Then I realized the van is electronic limited to 80 something miles per hour… LOL. Good times!

That's kind of lame of the manufacturer, there are freeways in Utah with a speed limit of 80mph and most people cruise at 85.

Depends on the gearing. My '96 t-bird was limited to 96 - when I put a 3.73 in it (original was 3.27) the limiter was down around 84. Then I chipped it
