Here are the details on the 2018 Expedition

I know it was coming, but it's wild Ford is making a vehicle this big out of aluminum. I think the only other vehicle that's aluminum and close in size are the 2013+ Range Rovers? It will also have 17 cup holders, which seems about right. Ha ha. Head to the homepage for the full breakdown.

It's just body parts that are aluminum, fenders, doors etc, mostly cosmetic. The frame is still steel. I think it just looks like a big Explorer. Thumbs down from me.

I just bought a 2017 XLT today. I have always liked the way the standard, non EL, Expeditions looked. We had discussed waiting for the 2018 to release, but decided we liked the idea of how "sorted" the last model year of a vehicle run usually is. Also we did not want to deal with first year problems again (still remember that new 2000 focus we bought....) I was never too fond of the new explorer look, so I do not regret the decision at all. Plus the dealer told me today that they were instructed to make more deals to get the 2017's off the lot in preparation of the new ones, so when I found an XLT that was loaded up just short of a limited, but without the sticker of one, we went for it.

Yeah, I was hoping they would keep more of the truck look, but the wife says she likes it, so I'm sure we will trade in the '15.

I generally like it. Looking at the side view, especially at the White Max Expedition on the Ford.Com site I see a lot of Tahoe influence with the downward sweeping rear roofline and spoiler overhang as well as the long accent line above the door handles on the side. I also see a **** on the dash for trailer backup assist (hands off the steering wheel) and on the center console at the 2 o'clock position next to the "mode' **** what appears to be a button for E-lock differential. I suspect I'll be trading my 2015 black platinum in for the same 2018 vehicle .

I can see "big Explorer." But I think the new ones look cool.

I love it. It looks like a big Range Rover IMHO. I will replace my wife's 15 which is almost at 50k miles with the LWB and I may get a regular.

Damn. My wife said the same thing. Had to look to see if I posted that.
Ordered my[our] 15 Limited in Sept. and has 24,000 on it. Thinking about
the 18 EL Limited. Rented a 16 EL While on vacation in January in Wyoming
and didn't even notice the extra length.Accually rented 2, one for the kids.
I was serious on a 17 EL last week but the only difference was the SYNC 3 .
Hopefully the 18 will have a heated steering wheel option . Never understood why
its available on the Explorer but not the Expedition

Sync 3 is absolutely worth upgrading to. It makes the previous myfordtouch feel like a cheap Chinese tablet from eBay... Well not that bad, but sorta. The sync 1 in my Mountaineer is laughable with voice commands whereas sync 3 is spot on. Can't wait to see where it goes after 3.

I just looked at the 2017 Expedition Platinum std. equip. and 600A options list and did not find a heated steering wheel.
