New to me - '05 F250 CC King Ranch
My truck was stolen on January 18th. The insurance company declared it a total loos on Feb. 2nd -- It hasn't been recovered yet. So Saturday the 4th I went out to look at a few trucks. Found this red King Ranch (my favorite color!) and bought it. It's really clean inside and out and seems mechanically sound except that it has a rough idle at cold start, evens out after a bit. I'm going to order either Archoil or RevX (haven't decided which one I like best yet) and change the oil with T6 (or maybe Delo, it is recommended by some respectable folks) as soon as it comes in.
Here's some pics:
Added a few taken at home:
So I have a couple of concerns. First, the rough cold start I mentioned earlier. It starts up quick enough but idles rough until it gets to about 150*. It will drive before then, but makes a lot of clatter and is rough. After that, smooth sailing. It's strange though. I'm used to the starter on my old truck. This seems to spin a lot faster and is loud, like an old Dodge starter.
Second thing I'm wondering about is there is a fair amount of oil and dirt build up on the hot side CAC boots. Unfortunately, I left a set of Riff Raff Diesel boots that I bought for my old truck in the toolbox mounted in the bed. I had bough the whole set with the metal cold side tube, but I never got around to putting the hot side boots on. So I'll be buying the whole kit again. I don't like those plastic CAC tubes that come stock. Mine on my old truck had a crack in it. This new truck seems a little sluggish compared to my old one. A lighter F250 not having the acceleration of a much heavier F350 DRW makes no sense. I suspect I'm losing some boost.

Nice truck. Put up a picture of the engine compartment if you would.
Need to get something to monitor things. Especially FICM readings, ECT-EOT, Volts ect.
Scangauge II, Torque APP and the likes.
You might be having FICM issues. Need to get that checked. And make sure you check the FICM when cold.

Jude: one thing that will affect the "peppy" feel is your axle ratio -- my bet is you have a 3.73 in the new truck and had 4.10 in the old DRW (pretty common), but on an f250 one could order 3.55 I think in your year...
Take a look at the door tag and look for the axle code, I'll go dig up some common ones and edit this post and add them in...

you can only have 3.73s if you have a 4x4 -- yankin' your chain a bit Jude, you could probably use a little humor...
So did your DRW have a 4.10 axle?
And while I'm not a red car person, well maybe if it was a Ferrari , your's is a color I really like too -- almost like a metallic cherry cola? Good looking truck, in and out! Hope it turns out to be a real winner for you (I was going to use the word "keeper", but thought that might be in bad taste ).

Yes, I had 4.10s in the DRW. I got the Oasis report for the new truck. I think they called the color Copper Metallic. There we zero entries on the Oasis report. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I'll be worrying about injectors now. My other truck had all 8 injectors replaced in 2007.

I'm using Torque Pro. Is there a PID for monitoring injector performance? I've read on here somewhere that you monitor something-contribution (?). I can't find a PID for anything like that. Is it a custom PID, and can someone tell me the values to enter for that? I've included several Ford specific PIDs that I found on here. The only thing I've found that I thought might help was to monitor misfires, but I show all 0's for that.

My Archoil was delivered today so I'll be getting my oil changed tomorrow. I hope the rough idle in the mornings will eventually get better. I don't like spending the money for the Archoil fuel additive. I've been using Diesel Kleen. My CAC boots will be here tomorrow too, so I'll put those on this weekend.
