Wrong Bed swap

Got an opportunity to pickup a clean 65 2x long bed with the passenger tool box in the side for a real good price. Would this be an easy swap onto my 65 F100 4x4 with the wrong bed? Other than drilling new holes if needed?

The 65 4x4 is a 120" WB, the 2x long bed is a 129" WB.

Yup. Slide the axle or shorten the bed. I would consider sliding the axle quite easy, but then again, most people aren't me.

Would I be correct to assume a 67 and up F250 4 x 4 frame would work pretty well other than the gap between the bed in the cab?

Sure, but isn't the reason for the swap to make it look "right"? It won't ever look "right" with a 2" too wide gap.

While you're at it swap in some 63" Chevy springs and make the back end ride like a Cadillac...

I guess I was thinking if I was going to move the axle I might as well move it on a later frame I could get bolt on PS and perhaps a married tranny with auto.

I'd probably be better off just moving the axle on that frame though.

This seller also has a very solid cab for sale. It has a dashpad and trim I'd like to have. I'm guessing that with the front cab mounts being different it wont bolt onto my 4x frame though will it.

Don't forget if you move your axle rearward that much you'd need a longer driveshaft and you'd also alter (reduce) your ground clearance in terms of the driveshaft angle.

Correct. Different cab mounts in the front would require some fabrication.

Thanks Chad. The cab has a good dash pad in it. How easy are they to remove?

They are glued to the dash. I don't know how you would go about getting them off in one piece.
