To wax or not to wax

I just stripped my firewall to bare metal primed and painted it semi gloss black. My question is should I apply wax or some other protection before I reinstall the master cylinders, wires, cables and battery tray?

Good question, I have never done it. I suppose it wouldn't hurt if the wax won't be effected by under hood temperatures. Like to hear others opinion.

I would not put wax on new paint for at least a month or 2. If not fully cured it could damage the paint.

My truck was painted in 1993 and has never been waxed! Paint needs to breathe. I use a glaze and glazes allow paint to fully cure. They do not offer great protection and do have to be reapplied often

No no no !
don't wax semi gloss paints, over the long term it'll cause them to go white(ish)
seen it all to many times on the semigloss & flat finishes on many of the mopars that seem to use it more than any other make.
And always leave new paint 90 days (three months) cure time before applying any type of wax as the solvent's have to work their way out, if they are sealed in you can end up with a condition called "solvent popping" which amongst other things can cause teeny tiny blisters on the surface of the paint and eventually lead to peeling and or dulling.
