Gas line by carb

Gas line by carb
I may need to take off the short gas line in front of the carb to fix. The metal one.
What stepsndoni take ? If I unscrew the bolt or whatever is hasn't gonna spray all over the place and just keep pouring out until I fix it ?
I have a 1986 e350 460 motor.
I keep having a gas leak right there and I can only get it to tighten so much and then it's good for a long one but my commute to worknis all freeway so I feel it comes loose after time because I can't get it tightened all the way

If you have an '86 E350 with 460 and electric fuel pump then yes the gas is under pressure.
The fuel pump relay should be a little green box near your driver side front headlight. Unplug it, start vehicle and let it idle until it runs out of gas which should take around 1 to 3 minutes. Then there won't be any pressure in the fuel system.
