Window Regulators, After Market or Fix What Ya Got?

My driver side regulator just failed today. I haven't even pulled it out yet to see how it looks but, I'm wondering what you's guys have done.

Any brands out there better than the other? Anybody fix their existing regulator?

I'm REALLY upset! I can't even put my arm out the window. How can a guy drive an old truck without having his arm out?

Someone on here rebuilt theirs, depending what failed it isn't hard. A search didn't turn the one I'm thinking of up, tho.

Thanks Ross. I did a search too. Guess I'm doing a regulator repair thread if I can fix it. If not Carpenter's is made in U.S.A.

I'll try to get it out tomorrow.

If yours is too bad to repair, I would SWAG there are several regulator mechanisms hanging around in darkside members shops, just taking up space, looking for a new life. The regulators are a pretty darn simple mechanism. Amazing what some cleaning and some lubrication will do in many cases.

Try Regulator Roy 609-828-8537. He has been an advertiser in the Ford Times magazine for years.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback. I managed to get my window down and I see it is just very sloppy at all the pivot points. Several areas have already been welded.

Unfortunately, I have some other things on my to do list that have taken priority. The window went back up so it's on hold for now.

If I decide it is worth fixing I'll post up pics.
