Im a newbie to Diesel...Coming from a 2015 F150 5.0L. Where do you get your DEF cheap. Im just outside Toronto (Eastside). How many miles (KM) do you get per fill.

Walmart has 2.5 gallon boxes for about $12. Parts stores are a couple of dollars more. Cheapest is to refill from the pump at a truck stop. The trucks seem to be going about 1,000 miles per gallon of DEF.

 

I get it at uap napa 2.5 gallons for $13.50 Canadian
Km's per tank full really depends on your driving style my 2011 350 drw that I used almost always to tow or Hwy only I could get 14,000kms to 5 gallons
My 2014 250 regular cab that is used mostly around town I get around 7,000 kms to 5 gallons

 

I recently found it for around $10.00 for 2.5 gallons at an Utramar truck stop north of Toronto. Like Bronc71 I occasionally buy at at Napa also.
I usually keep a jug or two on hand.

 

I've heard Ford fills it part of oil change service provided on diesels. It sounds most people would need a fill up every oil change.

 

DEF consumption rate (average) is around 3-4% of your Diesel fuel rate (higher if towing, lower if empty) -- so if you burn 100 gallons, expect to burn around 3 gallons of DEF....Best place to buy DEF is Flying J or similar truck stops as you can get it at many of the pumps and it's cheaper and easier than buying and filling from a jug...
