this jumper had to be used when my putco led light bar was installed. it requires the constant 12 volt at the plug. so far I have not noticed any issues. It is nice to have constant 12 volt at the plug for a number of reasons, especially with electric trailer Jack's.
As an update from my side of things: I have spoken to my contacts within Ford Engineering and they confirm the that this is a problem, which also extends to the Ford Transits. There is not an official solution other than the suggesting that an owner buys this: https://www.curtmfg.com/part/57003 . I am told they are working on a software solution, but lowering the fault reaction values causes other problem apparently...…….
It is also worth noting that following the Putco instructions will only continuously make the 12v battery circuit live all the time. It will not correct the lights and brake signal being shutoff due the control module fault reaction. They is also noted that any vehicle damage resulting from jumping those terminals on the truck would not be covered under warranty (which I think is only possible if somehow the breaker strength is exceeded by a dead short).
The Curt part solved my issue, though it looks slutty. I will continue to chase this with Ford and post back here if I make any progress.
Got the curt adapter, took an ohm meter to it, all it has is 3 10 ohm 50 w resistors one each on r/h, l/h turn signal and tail/license light to ground, wired like you'd use for an LED conversion.
